The chasis is the same, I can't remember for sure, but the color might be a little different. As far as the screen, it might be a different manufacturer, but my bet is that it is the same (as far as use).

As Caleb said - same chassis...it's the same Asus "line".

The W3j is a bit darker in color than the W3v.

What do you mean in terms of the same LCD - size? resolution? Yes to both.

In terms of who manufactures, I'm not sure if they differ.

The W3J is charcoal black whereas the W3V is grey. I believe the lids are the same color, but I could be wrong.

    Cheers.

The chassis is the same, the lcd is better........... the ZBD warranty actually represents a better lcd...... as from the factory it's called a perfect lcd guarentee... it's the best of the best that leave the lcd factory....

The coloring is actually of that of the old W3n... one that a lot of people preferred to the lighter W3v when it came out......... and then of course we have the W3z (amd model that didn't make the states) and the Z63a (barebone W3a) which were a very, very light grey and white...... The current W3j is the darkest color scheme.

I was thinking for the price difference and still having decent specs for a notebook and the design I like it may not be to bad a deal for the 1198.00.

    what do you guys think.

Physically the lcd panels are the same, the ZBD warranty just doesn't come out of thin air though...... they're the top 5% of the panels that are produced.... guarenteed zero defect is actually how the lcd company defines them.

Well, Dio - for the price it's up to you.... you're paying for what you're getting and although it's till good now, you'll get less usable life out of it - even if it lasts you as long as Asus systems usually do.... just because of software advancements down the road... but you certainly can't beat it.
