    HI.

I see that ATI just released their latest RADEON drivers (5.11).

Can I use the ATI drivers or should I use the ASUS video drivers when they come out? OR are there even better drivers out there?

    Thanks.

You know... I don't really know about that one. I tried downloading ATI radeon drivers and then tried the ATI Radeon Mobility drivers when I wanted to update the video for my w2v. The Catalyst installation wouldn't even start because it kept popping up a warning message that I didn't have the correct video card or something, and that I should contact the vendor.

Seems like I could only use the Asus ones. =T

No, you can use others - go to www.driverheaven.net and download the Mobility Catalyst - I just did, and they work great. :)

Below is the info from the ATI website:
    https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=293

As u can see at this stage ASUS arent yet supported by ATI drivers, although given that MSI etc are I suspect that it wont be long before ASUS adds its name to the list. Until then you have the choice of stock ASUS drivers, modded ATI ones from driverheaven, or you can use 3rd party drivers such as omega or DNA drivers. Personally unless your having an issue with the stock drivers there isnt any real need to change, the most u can hope for is a small increase in fps, but often this is traded off against stability.

The ATI drivers do work, but it seems ATI doesn't allow easy acces to them if your notebook manufacturer is not officially supported. I have been using this link I found on Driverheaven and it seems to allow you to download the latest mobility drivers and bypass the manufacturer check. Works on my W3V.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Since I haven't loaded any games on yet, I am going to stick to the stock drivers for now from the ASUS site. I hope ATI starts to support ASUS in the near future.
