Does anyone know whether the connector/adapter for the 2nd hard drive is industry standard or ASUS proprietry?

The original W3v packaging already came with the plastic tray but no connector & i've called ASUS in sydney 4 times trying to find out & each time they said they'll get back to me (but i'm still waiting).

Hopefully it's standard then i can source it from someone else instead...

    Any info will be appreciated.

Well you need to make an adapter that goes from the hard drive (which is standard) to the computer (which... whether it's standard or not I don't know, but it would be the piece thats on the rear of your optical drive).

For $35 for the kit, it's almost not worth trying to make your own.

The original package included a travel filler, not a tray for a HD. I suppose you could try to hack something together with it, but it was really meant to just fill the gap if you wanted to lighten you rload when traveling by removing the 2nd drive.

That travelers drawer is the same drawer that is included in the 2nd hdd kit..... if you look at the drawer, you'll notice there is a notch in the back and screw holes... same thing just without the parts to hook up the hard drive.

it's a blank drawer to replace the optical drive to just fill the void if you want to lighten the load....... you can also put some cash or credit card in it and keep them safe... women seem to like this the most as if you take something like this to lunch with you, you don't need to bring your purse (or guys with who have a man purse)
