Sorry for asking such a stupid question, but this is what the asus website said about the drive its an
Built-in 8 x DVD±RW Dual Layer drive
with so many different dvd media choices, I was wondering if anyone could reccomend what to buy for me to burn DVD's, I get the 8x part LOL should I get the DVD-R, DVD+R, or the dual sided ones, so many options is there even a difference?
Thanks Tony

Fuji makes a reliable media..... 8x -R is going to be compatible with most stuff you do.

I burn a lot of *ahem* back-up copies of my movies, and I typically use Verbatim Digital Movie DVD-Rs. They seem like high quality and to be honest I like that the top of the discs look like old-school movie reels, I've never had one go bad and I've burned close to 50 DVDs. They do scratch fairly easily (more so than store bought DVDs) and I'm not sure if that's common to all burnable DVD media or what. I use the DVD-Rs because in my experience it seems like the DVD players I have been around work better with them. For instance, I tried the same brand DVD+Rs in my Xbox, which I use for DVD viewing a lot, and they stuttered quite a bit. Other people say the opposite, but that's just my experience.
I don't mess with re-writables at all, because non-computer drives seem to have more trouble with them. And the dual-layer ones are too expensive to make it worth it, IMO.

I've have great luck with Verbatim as well. I'm sure Fuji is great too but I've never tried them.
Stay away from the really cheap stuff and you should be fine.
Dual layer media is still kinda expensive so I'd stick with single sided DVD-R 8X. -

So bestbuy got this big TDK sale, not worth stopping bye and picking up a spindle?

Edit: Verbatim is really the safest buy you can make. They'll vary somewhat as well (different manufacture), but they never vary so low as to be unacceptable. Burner compatibility, which can be an issue, is also low with Verbatim. Even with the crappiest of writers, where most other media will be poor, Verbatim is 'always' usable.
