I have a W3V that needs a new power plug on the motherboard and a new bottom due to a drop it occured. While I have it tore down I am considering replacing the top due to palm wear. I believe D3X said he used a W3J or N top and Bezel to get the darker tone. Are those parts interchangeable?

The Top case is definitely interchangeable. I have a W3V with a W3N Top case. The W3J GPU heatspreader(which the W3J no longer uses) and the screw locations are exactly the same as the W3V/N. I do suggest getting the W3N top as it's the exact same darker tone with silver side media buttons and chrome touchpad rim as it's $10 cheaper than the W3J part. All Top cases do not come with the Touchpad. The only difference between the W3N and W3J is the touchpad buttons design, the W3N is exactly the same as the W3V with a slit in the middle and made of dark aluminum, whereas the W3J is a one piece button in the same dark aluminum.

You will also need the Keyboard bezel, there is only one available from the estore which is the W3J part.

The speakers come with the TOP case if you buy the part from the estore, unfortunately it's the same exact speakers and the volume is the same. I'm sure the W3J uses the same speakers as well so you are out of luck.

    thanks-Parts are ordered-New top/Bottom/Bezel/Module.

Anything else worth mentioning as I install? I never had a heat problem so not sure any heat mods (paste) is necessary... Any advice on that D3X?

No, heat modifications are optional unless the system is experiencing very high temperatures. For my W3V, I have replaced all the thermal pads(except the GPU) with Artic Silver, I did have to do a slight modification to the heatsink for the chipset area by bending it slightly so that the contact area would touch without the heatpad.

The only reason why I made these modifications is because of my overclocking, which is pushing the limit of the cooling device design of the W3N/V
