It's been just around 4 months since I have owned my Asus W3V and needless to say it has been working/ performing flawlessly. I keep the system off at all times when not in use, and have always kept it in the best of care (i.e. in it's carrying case when not in use, away from anything that may cause physical damage, etc.).

Just recently, I started to receive this extremely aggravating problem with the LCD screen. The LCD screen spontaneously begans to blink on and off, or "flickers" is the appropriate word I suppose. Depending on where I angle/ tilt the screen and laptop, it will begin to repeatedly blink on or off again. Sometimes, I am able to completely restore the screen, whereas other times, I am forced to repeatedly position it here and there until Im forced to give up.

I've never experienced such a problem, and have tried searching the forums, as well as others for similar issues. If I happened to have missed a post regarding a similar issue, I apologize beforehand.

I'm sure it falls down to me having to send it in to the real experts at Asus, but I was hoping to receive any feedback on this matter before having to contact Asus. Your help is greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance...

I would suggest that this is a backlight problem. I had something similar on a (non-Asus) notebook about 3 years ago. If it is the backlight then you may be able to still see, with difficulty, whatever is on the display.

Could be a connect problem also. Either way, if you reinstalled the video driver, and it continues, you should get an RMA on it. You dont have any 3rd party power management utilities running do you?

That's exactly the case. I am able to make out the display very faintly when the screen flickers off.

I initially planned on restoring Windows with the reinstallation XP Pro disc. I will however reinstall the video drivers and see where it leads. As for any third party management utilities, none other than Power4 Gear.
