Just tried the S-video output on my W3v... the image shows up as black and white on the tv while the image on the screen is in color. Anyone else encountered it?
Yeah and I made sure the output was set to NTSC and not PAL.
UPDATE: Problem solved, had to use the Svideo converter cable that came with the W3V. Using the one I got from an Asus video card did gave the black and white signal. Although that is kind of weird dont you think?....

Hmm
That seems really odd...isn't an S-Video cable just an S-Video Cable?
I would have an easier time believing it if one of the pins was bent or something...that just seems weird.
Oh well, glad you got it working....
BTW, how does the quality look? -

No not all...... some cheap s-video cables do that a lot if they're not plugged in properly. My PS2 used to do that when the cable would slightly tilt out of the plug.... it's weird when you first see it, but you know what's causing it.

I know this is a stupid question but how do you display video through the s-video out?

Just plug in the s-video cable or the adapter with a composite attached into the S-video port. Press Function+ F8 to toggle between the display settings.

As he updated in the initial post, this is caused by an improper converter cable. S-Video caries the color signal seperate, that's why it gets slightly higher quality. Most adapters are not created equal and it can be very hard to find the right one. With one of my older cards, the S-Video to Composite cable was always black and white until Windows completely loaded and the driver did the proper translation. There really is no standard for conversion from computing devices and due to that, every company comes up with their own scheme, most of which utilize internal hardware of the graphics card to do the actual translation.
