Just wondering if anyone has tried the Audio Digital out (SPDIF) into a 5.1 receiver, as i have got nothing from my Pioneer VSX-C100 with my W3V plugged in, i have a desktop pc with a SB Audigy 2 pulgged in all the time and no problem.
I had tried updating the Realtek drivers and have no success, it seems to not output a digital signal at all, with the minijack plugged into the headphone socket and an rca in the Pioneer, i open the Soundman app and tagged output digital only, tried the different KHZ's soooo, i called Asus Tech Support and they told me to without helping at all, to take the W3V to the Service Centre ?

Hi,
I think that it is an optical out. You need a mini toslink to toslink cable. Something like this:

I had the same issue. For some reason there is no documentation about the s/pdif jack. NickM is correct, it requires a toslink (optical) cable (mini toslink on the W3V end and regular toslink for the receiver end). You can get a cable such as noted above. I went to Radio Shack and got a toslink cable and a mini-toslink adapter for one end. Make sure in the sound control panel that s/pdif is un-muted and it will work fine.

I run my W3V out to an Onkyo receiver run thru a 6.1 surround system w/ no problems. It sounds great. never had to do anything other than plug it in. Is the plug all the way in?

Thanks for the tips will buy one tomorrow and see how i go. Nice for Asus to let us know huh, i was searching the Doco's and like you said confinoj nothing.
I like this idea better as the Pioneer has a tos on the front -
You know its really cool because I used to use the same plug for my Ipod mini. When I have parties I would just plug my Ipod into my receiver and run a playlist. I've actually noticed that the W3V produces a richer, clearer sound with the same set up, plus I can have all 6,000 of my songs available. I've made some nice playlists for parties. The only thing I wish I had was a wireless or bluetooth enabled receiver so that I can broadcast from anywhere in my apartment.

got a transfer adapter that changes Tos to mini Tos as i have one for the DVD player that i never use as we all tend to use the ones in our PC's nowdays, works great from the W3V, thanks again.

Creative makes a receiver as well. DD100 or something like that. You do need a receiver for the spdif plug. The speakers plug into the receiver.

So the W3V's S/PDIF outputs to 5.1 and not just stereo? [I just want to confirm before I purchase Logitech's Z-5500.]

Are you guys telling me that the 1/8 jack - for headphones, outputs an optical spdif signal???

I knew it was also an spdif output - but optical...
Hmm, maybe that's why I haven't gotten it to work with my receiver.
