Hi, I have two Asus laptops W3V and W3J and like them a lot. Nice design, functionality and portability. But I think I need something new. Which model now is the best replacement for these models in terms of similar build quality and portability (14 inch screen)? I also want it to be slim. I don't have budget limitations. Thanks.

V2S, I believe. A bit thicker maybe (I don't remember exactly) and not as well-built (you can't beat brushed aluminum...) Also a rather bland laptop, it doesn't stand out through anything.

You might consider the U3S (but with a steep price gradient...) Switchable graphics will give you better battery than the V2S, and that's an important concern with nowadays' ASUS notebooks. But the dedicated graphics is I think worse than for the V2S. Depends on whether you want to game or not.

Also the U3S has leather palmrest, and a rather strange combination of black palmrest / white keyboard, for the black-outside model. It definitely stands out, but it's up to you to determine if it stands out in the right way. :)

If I had to choose a replacement for my W3J, I'd go with the U3. The lack of a built-in optical drive would be kind of annoying at times, but nothing an external drive couldn't handle.

Yes, although I think the external is not included in the price? I'm not sure...
