I'm trying to kook up my W3V to my HD CRT which has component and HDMI inputs. Here are my thoughts and questions.

Typically, VGA from a PC can not be converted to component by a simple cable/adapter - a more expensive transcoder is needed ($100-$200) to convert the colorspace. However ATI has built in hardware support for direct component output on selcted video cards and implements it differently on different cards. The component output signal is sent either via the VGA port (using their adapter) or a 7 or 9 pin DIN (with a different adpater). This DIN also usually doubles as an S-video out. The S-video port on the W3V appears to be one of those 7 pin DINs (S-video only uses 4 pins). ATI does not list the mobility x600 as supporting one of these "breakout" adapters for component. My question is does the W3V support this and if so which adpater would work. I'v seen some people mention these adpaters here but no details. If it's not supported, niether will work and I'd have to buy a much more expensive transcoder.

    Thanks in advance.
