Bought a demo from a retail warehouse. Used about 2 week with no problems. I updated the firmware about 3 nights ago. This morning the screen suddenly turned ultra bright and everthing was washed out. One can barely see what's on the screen. There were wide vertical strips on the screen too. Try to go to CMOS(F2) to recover but the CMOS was all messeup that when you moved the curser, the old screen did not go away but stayed as a second layer. In Windows, the mouse was in extreme slow motion(barely moves). Any suggestion? Graphic card? I used computer for 25 years and have never seen this.

well if its happening even in the bios you def have hardware issues unless u had a bad bios upgrade. Whe you say you upgraded the firmware did you mean new bios. if so not sure if thats covered under warranty if is was a bad upgrade. but why dont you just call asus and send it in.

Try the hard reset button on the bottom of the notebook. (I think there is one) and hold it for a few seconds...

If that doesn't work, it definitely does sound like a hardware issue, like SRD said. Call Asus!
