I need to make a decision on a new notebook by next week. Strongly considering the W3V and would appreciate current owners weighing in on the following questions:

    1. Are you reasonably satified with the W3V?
    2. If given the opportunity, would you exchange it for a different make/model? (if yes, which one?)

    Thanks for your help.

Hi Jim, you may want to have a look here as your questions have already been asked/talked about/ answered.
    http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16525
I would normally lock a repeat question, but seeing as the above mentioned topic is already locked due to vulgar responses I will leave this one open.
Hopefully any new comments can stay ontopic......I can only hope for that day.

How hard is it to read just one of the other threads before starting a new one?

Hey thanks for your courtesy Underpantman.

Acutually, I've been reading everything I can find on the W3V and V6V. This forum has been very helpful as it's difficult to buy a $2,000 notebook without even seeing the real thing. I did post to link you mentioned as the thread had gotten off topic. After emailing ArouraS, I received the following response:

Hello JimB You received the following message from: AuroraS ([email protected]) At: http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/ In this scenario, I think you should just re-post your question in a new thread/topic. Sorry you had to be caught up in that feud... I hope this stuff doesn't happen anymore. Cheers, AuroraS

Sorry if it caused a problem.

    JimB.

Yeah, I told JimB to repost his question since the last thread went sour. Don't be too hard on him, guys [ :p]

I've had mine for around a week and to answer your questions, I am very satisfied with my purchase and given the chance I would pick the same laptop.

Although I am having trouble finding a sleeve to fit its reletivley unique dimensions.

    Asus W3v- oh yeah!

I'm in the same boat as JimB.

If someone could answer his questions 1 and 2 for us, we'd appreciate it.

No need to go in depth...just do you like it and would u buy it again?

We're just trying to get a thumbs up or thumbs down essentially.

    1. Yes, I'm satisfied.

    2. If I were going to exchange it, then I'd probably pick up a Sony S360. They're $1350 after rebates right now, which makes them an option worth considering.

The W3V is a really nice machine. A lot has been mentioned about heat, but so far as one of the moderators mentioned it's all speculation as to what impact this heat will have. That's the danger of buying a new product.

Sorry Dudes... Post like that should be identified as "reposts".... because already this thread is slightly shifting off topic...and I'm sorry I'm the one doing it.

As long as you have your answer, you're golden.

    Thanks,

I am more than reasonably satisfied with my W3V, and would definitely buy it again.

I don't game, though, so if that's going to be your primary use, you should listen to some gamers -- although plenty of them seem impressed with the graphis capabilities of the W3. [8D]

    Hey,
I just have the feeling that W3v might come out with a version 2.0, currently mine is a version 1... asus are famous for updating their hardware versions just like my desktop pc mainboard.

    Jing, what? when?

I am buying now (today hopefully) and I need it by August at the latest. Is a newer version coming out by then? Or is this just speculation?

    Corrid,

now that you have ur w3v, would you say it is a better choice than the Sony? OF course the spec's are better, but the heat issue must be a tradeoff...
