This is a known problem with the Synaptics drivers and Firefox -- *only* Firefox.
Search the Forums for "Synaptics" and "Firefox" -- there are a number of threads telling you how to correct, but it seems to depend on specific configurations; most people say to install an older Synaptics driver, but that didn't work for me. I think it's just trial and error at this point, until Synaptics releases a *new* driver that actually works.

wow should i unstall the logitech bluetooth mouse driver? haha. i wonder. it annoys me that the touchpad doesn't work with firefox. i'm not quite ready to give up firefox although it still isn't the perfect browser (well since no one writes perfect HTML).

what BT mouse do you have?

Djembe, you rock! Thanks for finding that. I can finally scroll -- now that I've taught myself to do without it over the last 3 months.....

I'd guess that it works universally for Synaptics touchpads. If the W5 has a touchpad made by Synaptics, it should work.

download the one for 2000/XP. The first one on the list is only for 64-bit systems. You might have to uninstall your previous driver before you can install the new one, but I think it will work if you just open it and start the setup.

Does this mean you will pay him the extra hour of support.

Usually technical support averages around 15-20 an hour these days for phone support.

    eheheh

There was a huge thread about this topic a few months back over @ notebookforums.com

Yep, all you have to do is download the driver (for XP/2000), open the zip folder, and click on setup.exe. The new driver installs automatically, and you don't have to uninstall the previous driver or anything; after a reboot, you can scroll away to your heart's content!

Hey, I like your thinking, smilepak! ;) I could quit my day job and get paid for answering forum questions if that were true! :D
