Hi all,
Have there been any word on an upgrade for the W3V? Or a newer model that would replace the W3V?
I am looking for a small gaming laptop (primarily for WOW). Thanks.

That would be the w3j not out yet and no concrete date of release either. v6j is out though.,....

How do you find the W3Vs keyboard to be? Is is regular size?

ye its standard size. Very nice keyboard needs no mods of any sort
-
Yeap, the W3 keyboard is full sized, and a joy to type on.

i got to mess around with a W3V today and was very impressed with the keyboard, like it almost as much as the thinkpad
-
Kind of an unfair comparison, but you liked it, and that's awesome
-
Awesome - now as long as the screen is bright and looks nice, I'll be happy.
-
The W3V screen is super bright brighter than any sony i think. viewing angles are just soso though.

I just read all of the reviews on this site - I'll tell you, the V6J and the W3J are two great options. On one hand you have the larger screen - on the other hand you have the more powerful video card.
-
hmm...is the w3j expected to have a much higher price than the w3v was when it first came out?
any rough idea? -
The W3J is supposed to be the same price as the W3V. But hte W3V now has a $100 rebate in both Canada and USA. So comparatively, the W3J is slightly more expensive. And some retailers may reduce price on the W3V to clear their stocks. But the overall difference shouldn't be too big.

Hi there--
Does anyone have any guesses regarding the relative weights (especially "travel weights", with optical drives removed, if possible) of the W3J vs the V6J? Travel weight is one of the most important factors for me (much more so than the video card), and I'm trying to figure out whether to wait for the W3J to come out or just go ahead and get a V6J.
Please forgive me if I've missed a similar thread somewhere. I love the idea of getting an Asus, for they seem to be well made, excellent laptops. But there doesn't seem to be much in the way of official (which for me means posted by Asus, in English, for the US market) information that explains the various ensemble/whitebook models and the relationships between them. If there is such a resource, I'd appreciate a link.
Thanks!

V6j 5.5lbs W3J 5.5lbs but if you take the optical drive out of the W3j and put the plastic bay filler it goes down to 5lbs but thats only on the w3j. but the v6j is easier to transport because its so much thinner at least i think so.

But you do have to realize that the V6J has a slightly larger foot print. To me, foot print matters the most when talking about mobility.
-
you are talking about 1.4 inches from front to back. its really is smaller in person than you think. i found it seems easier to carry around than a w3v. its really not that different either one is great. the footprint is so close they are the same class as far as size is concerned.
Remember its much thinner though.
-
Yea, its only a little bit wider in length, but its almost the same in width, and even much thinner.
That's also another thing, widescreen on a 14.1" is the same as an 15", just that the 15" has more estate vertically -
One thing about the keyboard you guys neglected to mention.
It is full sized and is awesome, better than my Z70Va's keyboard in my opinion, but the directional arrow keys are not full sized, but kinda grouped together, like, umm, cripes wish I had a picture.
Not a deal breaker, but just so you know.
I really, really enjoyed typing on that thing though. It has that "punch" feel to the keys and has a more positive feel than the Z70Va's keyboard, which I still love.
Cheers,
Mike
