Hello,
This is my last step in deciding weather to get the W3V or V6V. I've been browsing and reading alot of forums and there are many W3V owners complaining about their laptop wearing out, especially paint wearing to a point where you see the base "white" colour.
I'm wondering if the V6V have this kind if problem, since the interior is also aluminium will it wear like the W3V?
Thanks

Most of people who post stuff like this are either really hard on their systems, or a drama queen.... there's no ifs, ands or buts about it........ On a systme like the W3, it has the SAME paint as say a Z70 or any other system that doesn't have an aluminum palmrest......... everyone is different and people aren't just wearing their systems out, I can assure you of that.
However, if that's what you're worried about - the system with an aluminum palmrest are certainly going to be better..... hands down. There's nothing wrong with the painted carbon fiber models... but you're you can't rub off an electro-charged coating like what's on anodized aluminum..... that process on aluminum is a LOT like the process of chroming steel...... it's very hard.
You're lucky the W3 and V6 are so much a like, but I'll tell you from experience, if you have a heavy screen preference towards widescreen / glaretype........... as opposed to regular ratio / matte type...... you don't want to go with the V6 just for the palmrest....... however, like I said.. it's a personal choice and if that doesn't matter to you, obviously do with the v6 for the feature you do want.......... but again, don't worry so much because a palmrest costs like $40-50 and in a year if you wear it down enough that it looks bad, you could replace it and make it new again...... $200 and you can replace everything on the outside of the computer, including the keyboard... -
Ahh, so I can actually replace the whole case if I want
Thats good to hear.
I'm a bit worried about the little holes on the palm rest for the V6V, thats a very easy place for sweat and dirt the clog up and it doesnt look easy to clean it if it does get clogged up. Is there a way to clean it?
Also, the W3V has about 30mins longer battery life mainly I think is because V6V as a SXGA screen which uses more power.
My question is if i run at a lower resolution on the V6V (not full screen, centered). Will the battery last as longer? Do the pixels in the black boarders actually emit a black light or are they "off"?
It is still a tough choice for me becuase here in Australia for some strange reason the W3V costs more than the V6V. W3V ($2800 AUD ~ $2153 USD), V6V ($2440 AUD ~ $1876 USD).
If the W3V wasnt a massive $500-600 USD difference I would've hesitate
I hear Asus is bringing out a new 14" V6V style, do you have more infomation about that? will it have a higher resolution than the W3V?
Thanks alot -

Yeah... that goes with all of our cases........ we don't always have every part in stock.... but most of the time we do and if we don't, they're only a couple days away....
The holes on the v6 are the speakers... and since the v6 is deeper (because of the screen).. your palms really don't touch them... they were taken off the w3 design because it's not as deep and your palms would cover them.
If the w3 and v6 differ in battery life more then 10 minutes, that'd be a new one for me..... they should get almost exactly the same life.
That's weird.. here it's only $100 difference.... and the W3 is what $1699 now... that's ridiculous. -
Thanks for the info that helped me alot
I've decided to go for the V6V, even though they it only comes with a 740 processor here in austhe W3V is just not worth is here.
