I have a Asus W3V which turns on and a split second turns off, took the processor out and it stays on for longer, I think its the motherboard gone bad, what do you guys think?

The computer will not work without the CPU. What was the purpose of removing it? You won't be able to isolate the fault that way.
Check my Tips and Tricks, item 1. Also try to reset the BIOS settings using the pinhole on the bottom of the notebook (marked > o <). If those things don't help, probably your motherboard is dead indeed. -
It could be the CPU too, have you tested the CPU elsewhere? Check E.B.E's Tips and Tricks, and read his "What to do if my notebook doesn't POST?" Section and follow his instructions. Post back here of what you find.

It could be the CPU; however:
a) It is very difficult to test, it's not like with desktops where it's easy to find a desktop with a compatible socket lying around without warranties to be voided by replacing CPU.
b) It is extremely highly unlikely for a CPU to break down. Personally I have never witnessed such a situation.
Although, I did break a couple of them myself (pushing too hard when mounting the heatsink). Shame on me...
W3V wont stay on
