start > control panel > display > settings

    Set resolution to 1024x768

Advanced > ATIDisplays > Panel > uncheck "Scale image to panel size".

Then you have black edges instead of stretching

Well, one game which is very popular doesnt allow me to play in actual wide screen mode as the display settings are locked up -> Half life one, CS, TFC, DoD. But for Half life TWO and CS source, theres the video option for me to opt on wide screen mode and select 1280x768. Tried widegamesforum.com but without any solutions. Afew peeps have the same issues with me.

    .. on stock Asus W3V
