grab a stool, order a drink, and talk about your fave asus lappy! this is a great place for potential buyers as well, especially those who are getting sucked into the w3j and dont need the power or want something alot cheaper to wait for memrom (thats what i'm doing). anyway, grab a seat, sit down, take a shot (lol), and relax... :p

He's right...the W3V club is an exclusive one with members who know their hardware and the value that Asus gives for their dollar. I for one applaud the idea!

Now if I could just get my optical drive to write DVD-+RW's correctly...

The drives they use are not the best. I had the original replaced with a TSSTcorp TS-L532A and that drive has known problems (some kind of manufacturing defect). I get errors in Nero burning high-quality DVD- and DVD+ RW media. I'll look into getting it replaced at some point. I'd love to have a nice NEC or even better yet a slot load in there!

But, a lot of the time I'm using the bay for something else, so maybe an external is the way to go...I'm still happy with my W3V, though.

You and I are thnking the same thing! I just don't know how Asus drives are different-is it simply the angle of the face of the drive? Does anyone know?

    Help!

I think our DVD Writers are lightscribe-enabled (or mine is at least) I'm going to pick up a pack of DVD's to test today.

Thanks for starting the lounge, I was thinking of it but never got around to it. Props.

W3V is so much more than I thought it would be =)
