Hi there... need some quick help... i browsed my paper manuals, and went to asus.com, wasted about 45min.

Since yest. my laptop battery won't charge from 0%.

I noticed when I rebooted, I get a 'CMOS' error as well... isn't this the equivalent to the little watchsized battery in a regular PC?

anyway, I was tired so picking option 1 of 2, that gets you into the BIOS and then only to save/exit out of it, the next time i rebooted, i chose option2, which is like to 'use default'...

little did i know, i now see that during reboots, I get the asus splash screen, which hides the POST info, and the prompt to press the F key to get into BIOS...

what key do we press, I've rebooted like 10 times, pressing f9, f10, and abunch of others and i can't get back into the BIOS to disable the asus splash...

    Thanks in advance..

I believe its F2 or F8, however, I'm not entirely sure(I rarely ever need to go to BIOs).

    Good luck!

yes, it's not f8, as that's for the boot modes... like safe, etc...

yep, F2, thanks very much... got back in there...

I'll have to look up the warranty on the original battery... probably just 1yr, whereas the laptop itself is longer...

anyone know a good place for a competively priced battery, thankx.

I have a very similar problem...

My W3V battery always remained at 1% charged even though I plugged the AC power on all day. I tried calibration from bios but it never finishes after a whole day. Called Asus support and they refuse to replace the battery because it's out of the 1 year warranty, and they said it's "normal that batteries die after 1 year". I purchased my W3V back in April 2005, and the battery just died after 1 1/2 year, and Asus refuses to replace a clearly defective battery. I think this is ridiculous.

I guess we can all hope for a recall or something so we'll have a chance to get new battery...
