Juest wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I've had my W3j since november and have noticed that (from the front) the battery is loose on the left side, basically not flowing with the lines of the notebook. Also, dead center on the battery I have one large scratch and a few faint ones that are prefectly parrallel to each other, they seem to be caused by the opining and closing of the screen, right around where the rubber piece is, but I can't find any burr or area that might cause them. It's not a huge deal, but the W3j is so beautiful that I hate to have anything mess it up. Anyone have any ideas?

I too have sctratches which sound identical to that on my battery, i've had my machine a little longer than you and i hope it reassures you to know that after noticing these scratches quite some time ago now i've never noticed them worsen any, and i've never thought it would de-value the machine too much as the battery can be replaced.

As for battery looseness, I believe this is a known issue, one I have too...

Don't stress out though dude, the W3J is Very well built and i doubt you'll have to worry about it falling apart before you come to sell it / pass it on i.e. 3-4 years down the road. :)

That's normal........ I gave my father a new battery for his old W3v (about 20 months old at this point), and I noticed the fines scratches and I can say that's normal based on the fact that the bottom of the screen rides up it with everyone open and close. However, there are some little plastic glides under the screen to keep them apart, but it's those glides that make the fine scratches over time.

In terms of the battery being loose, that's how it was designed... it needs a little bit of play to be able to attached and detach, but the only time you should worry is if the battery falls out, or you loose connection with the terminals and lose power..... otherwise, that's how it's supposed to be.

I have a few small scratches on my Z33 where the screen opens and closes. Only noticeable up close at certain angles. I try to keep dust and such off the top of the battery as much as possible to mitigate this.

Honestly a nitpick though. My Asus makes me happy because the only things I can find wrong with it are nitpicks compared to every other laptop I've ever watched over a period of years ;)
