I know the Portable MX has hthe option for an upgradable screen for outside viewing but for the W3J...can you see the screen outside?

All depends where you're sitting...in direct sunlight? Not many screens period can compete with the sun.

Unless you have light shining directly on the screen, it's definitely okay outside.

Also changing the monitor will surely void manufactures warranty...you'll be stuck dealing with the vendor.

I use my W3J in the cockpit of my jet when flying and it looks outstanding and it is very very bright sunlight up there. I find the screen to be fantastic. Hope that helps.

I'll often sit outside with my W3j and the sun doesn't bother me, unless it shines directly to the screen.

OT: TeflonMan. . you're a pilot? ... just thought it's cool that a pilot is browsing these forums. Know any place I can get good deals for tickets? :)

Lol, I think its pretty funny pilots fly with laptops but I suppose the sky fewer obstructions to worry about than the road and a lot of it is probably automated. Must be a nice gig. I hope you don't sound annoying when you talk over the mic though ;).

OT: Darrik, if you know anyone that works for the airlines (relatives, friends, etc), you can jump on there standby tickets if they will pass one up for you. For the tax of the ticket you can fly anywhere and it's essentially free :) Or just your standard Orbitz, Expedia, etc...Sorry I can't be much help there, but times are tough in the airline world right now :( Kierkegaard....that's funny :) I always liked the ," Hey, what's that sheep doing up here?" in Far Side. And as far as automation goes, the saying is, "It won't be long before there is a pilot and a dog in the cockpit, and the dog's there to bite the pilot if he reaches for anything" :) LOL
    Cheers fellas
