    Hi Guys,

I just bought my laptop about 4 months ago. Today, I noticed there is a small smudge so I dampen this foam (in the pix) with water to clean but it make a bigger smudge :-(. I don't know what to do with it. Anyone has any suggestion to get rid of it? :( :( :-(

I can't see the smudge in the pic, but I always try isopropal alcohol to get rid of smudges, etc. Just make sure you try it on some piece of plastic that is out of the way in case it takes the finish off. I have never had that happen, but just in case it is always a good idea. Maybe also try blotting more than rubbing so it doesn't spread. Hope that helps.

are you trying to get the smudge out of the foam or off the notebook :p

need more info, what caused the smudge? did you drop something on it? is it greasy? maybe a damp cloth would work better than foam? possibly put some soap on the cloth first...

or is it on the screen?

The smudge is in the lower left corner of the picture-it looks to me like an adhesive residue. It looks like a reflection, but that's it.

Was there a label on the laptop in that area when you first received it?

Ok this may sound stupid, but are you sure this smudge isn't paint coming off your notebook skin? Cause you know, the more you smudge a paint smudge, the more it smudges the smudge...

Here is another picture. It's the discoloration in the box area and surrounding area that concern me.

Insane: are you insane? (kidding) I'm trying to remove the discoloration from laptop not the foam. I used Mr Clean Magic Erase with water to remove a small smudge but now it has gotten to this.

katana6506: There was a spec label there but I've removed it.

gatordude123: Yea that could be, but I'm not sure.

I'd go back to just soap and water with a washcloth. The Mr clean might be adding to the smudge since it has more extreme cleaning chemicals.

    Zeff: What kind of soap?

I've also tried getting some disinfectant pad which contain IPA. Nothing...

something mild, I was imagining something like a bar, not the liquid type. The pic is still hard to see. When I look i see two sort of rectangle shapes, not a smudge.

Yea it's more of a discoloration than a smudge.
