OK, I'm sorry I took so long to take these... but I hope they're all up to snuff.
Incase it's not obvious to everyone, the order of these notebooks are the W5a / W3v / V6v. In this picture you can obviously tell the differences in the colors and foot prints of the systems. Take my word for it the W3 and V6 are the same width.

In this picture it may not be completely obvious but you can see how the bottom case on the W3 is slightly thicker than the V6... this accounts for why the V6 has to use the super slim drive.

OK, this picture os of my W3 to the left and my 23" widescreen WUXGA sony lcd. I set this up as a dual desktop and used the W3's standard background (although you can put a WUXGA background of any kind on that second desktop)..... but I used it to show that the monitor is set at a much higher resolution (because the background on the W3 is set for WXGA and since that's set the way it is, the background on the big monitor is exactly the same size as a 14" widescreen)..... It's a little hard to tell, but you can tell the icon is much smaller on the big monitor, helping to show the extra real estate you're getting. Bot monitors are set to 32 bit.

I hope someone get some use out of these..... []

Justin

Haha... thank you. If I threw in a $2,000 lcd, I'd expect more than just a new customer (take that as you will, but if you take it the wrong way, get your mind out of the gutter).
To really capture the last picture of the screens, I got my camera on my tripod and set the f-stop to 8 just to capture the crispness I can see in real life.
If anyone else would like another angle or some other shot all together, let me know and I'll try to take it for you.
Thanks,
Justin

Incredibly useful. More pictures are always better when purchasing a computer you can't actually hold first!
-
nice pictures, gives me an idea of the relative sizes of each now!
throw in the sony lcd with the W3 and you've got yourself a new customer! [] hehehe!
-
If you've time, I'd appreciate some head-on, side-by-side shots of the W3V and V6V displaying the same images.

Justin, can you take a close front picture of the laptops with the lids closed. I want to see the thickness of all of them. I hope that made sense.

Thank you Justin!
If you've got more time, do you think you could post a pic of the W5a and the W3v next to each other with the Windows desktop shown, basically to give an idea of how much smaller the text might be?
For me, I just wanted to get an idea of how much smaller the 12" widescreen is. Lots of stores have widescreen 14"'s on display, but I haven't seen any widescreen 12"'s in real-life.

OK, ask and you shall recieve.
This picture shows the W3 is slightly taller off the tablet than the W5 to the left and both are taller than the V6 to the right.
Say what you want about my choice of background (but it's something everyone probably knows).. but between the three screens on full brightness, in a dim room, they all look very similiar. The way I took the picture doesn't really show off the brightness, but the only way to try to capture the color reproduction on all of the screens without them appearing washed out was to shoot like this. Also keep in mind people talking about viewing angles on the V6... At least in this image the W3 is in the center and from where I stood (about 7' back), the angle from the screen on both the W5 and V6 is probably about 45 degrees off center. Anyone who uses the notebook further to the left or right than that either has two heads, or one arm longer than the other (if this is the case, that joke wasn't meant to be in poor taste)
Thanks,
Justin

Well everyone wants 180 degree viewing angles up and down and left to right. In all honesty, thats important for an LCD TV that is sitting in your family room where when you have a party you may have someone sitting at 5-10 degrees from flat.... or when you put the screen up in the air and have people standing up and people sitting on the floor who want to be able to watch it.
Other than that..... you tell me in a real world situation what you're going to need it for.
Thanks,
Justin

excellent! thank you...
The v6v screen looks perfectly fine to me. That was the only thing stopping me from buying it. Goes to show you have to take certain parts of reviews as what they are, opinions.

Thanks a lot Justin, I know I've been bugging you for these pics for quite some time now...we all appreciate you taking the time to do this for us. Just so you know, like many have said, nothing compares to some good quality photos.
With your update, I got both the shots I was looking for...the only thing I kinda notice is...With the lids closed close up the W3V and W5a seem to be almost the Exact thickness or height...but when you look even closer, the W5a's bottom half is much lower than the W3V's...and the lids (top half) appear to be about the same at closer inspection...so Is it just the camera angle...or are the W3V and the W5a practically flush with eachother when they're closed?
It would have been so sweet if they made the W3V the same thickness/height of the V6V (not to mention the same colour scheme). Looking at that V6V, If I didn't need something as small as I do, I'd be all over it, other than It's size, It's everything I could ever ask for in a laptop in all respects. Man that's one hell of a laptop! Maybe I'll convince my Father to get one so I can use it [8D] -

I see what you mean... let me post the full size picture so you can see it better. The camera angle is just slightly above the horizon... that's why you can see a little bit of the top of the notebooks...... but the W3 is a hair taller than the W5, but it's top lid is also a hair thicker than the W3's.... so when you're then looking at table height for your hands.. the V6 is obviously going to be the closest to the table, with the W5 coming in next and the W3 last. Can't go wrong with any of them, because most people will tell you the W3 is a comfortable notebook to type on... Let me get that picture up for you.
Thanks,
Justin

how much thicker is the W5A compared to the S5N?
-
PROPortable Company Representative
Right...... the rear of the S5 is the same thickness as the M5's front and rear.... and the W5 is the same front to rear as the M5..... so yes.
The W5 is just a little longer and shorter from front to back than the S5/M5.
Thanks,
Justin

blacks are good on the w3v.
note: the w3v has a different background on it, it's been modified to look like a painting rather than the default photograph.
still, blacks look great! you should all check out how deep the red looks for the default homepage for the firefox browser.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
