512MB of ram isn't enough for my needs
i was wondering is the default 2 x 256MB dual channel
if i swap out the 256 to 512 will i lose that dual channel
and decrease the overall speed
lastly will this work with W5?

You can swap it out, and it has been discussed all over the forum. I don't think it will still work as dual channel though. I might be wrong. We offer an upgrade with a 512 chip at 533mhz, and it seems to work fine. However, I can't be sure if the dual channel still works.

We haven't heard any of the customers complain yet!
I don't know how testable that is, since when you upgrade, it is a bigger chip, so it will perform better anyway. I guess it is all a matter of opinion. I would like to see the tests when they come out.

Having 768mb of ram (1 x 512 + onboard 256) is going to give you better performance than running it in dual channel with the 512mb (1 x 256 + onboard 256) ....... so, it's really not a huge issue because dual channel only seems to help once we're talking about 2 x 1g... Most people will tell you the difference is there, but if you're looking at dual channel and less ram.. it's not something the extra ram won't make up for by far.

Justin

ahhh.....that makes sense
thanks for the reply
btw will the ram from that link be most likely compatible with W5
PS i read somewhere that the integrated video card can get up to 128MB....is that true? Is it by installing more system ram?

Well, the corsair ddr2 533 that we have will work (we've got it working for the last couple weeks straight) .. the system clocks it down to 400 very well.
I'm sure the Kingston will work as well, but I couldn't tell you for sure because I haven't tried it.
Someone told me that 128mb integrated video story yesterday.... I haven't been able to prove it....... but I won't rule it out because I haven't tested it out. But the official specs read up to 64mb.... but at the same time, it says 768mb as the max ram..... but I've got 1.25 gb running in my W5...... so.. take that how you will. []
Thanks,
Justin

I would like to increase it too
tehee...
did the 1.25GB ram help at all?

nicee i just updated the new bio
now it says 128 MB of video memory size
but somehow when i try to use chankast
games and the bio screen are real blocky
seems like missing some graphics
i didn't experience this with the older centrino board
(such as when i use it on Sony TR2A)
it displays every graphics
even though it might not get the full speed
could it be the program itself
any idea?
thanks in advance,

Did I get that right?
You got the w5600a runnig with 256 mb + 1024 mb extra ram? what ram do i need so?
And second question: Is there any hint that there will be a series w5a model that offers 533mhz-ram on board which would make pretty much sense?
