Hi guys, here is what I am looking for in a new laptop

    Fast (Core Duo)
    Light (4lbs or less)
    Small (14" or less)
    Good Battery Life (4+ hours)

and I am looking at the Asus W5F

for those of you who have it, how many hours do you get on average?
what about with an extended battery?

    any connectivity problems?

what are the pros and cons of this notebook? not many reviews out there! :(

    thanks!

I can't offer any personal opinions on the W5F, but I can direct you to another review. Hope this helps.

It's quoted runtime with the 4800mAh battery is 4 hours, which wasn't too far off the mark during testing. There is also a 7800mAh battery available.

Hmmm... I wonder how they found out rotating the camera the wrong way can break it.

    Neat little review. Thanks!

personally I dont like the design of the w5 series...that big camera is just ugly IMHO, if you can wait then I would go for the upcoming w7 series,
13.3", less than 2kg and very very sexy.

Hi Everyone. New member here, so go easy on me, ok? :)

Maybe they rotated it the wrong way and broke it then glued it back? :D

I'm in the market for a 12" laptop... or any laptop around the 4lb mark. That Asus looks really nice but that camera is a bit ugly. Could be useful I suppose.

I'll take a look at the W7 series. I like the bigger screen and keyboard.

Funny how the people at PCPer found the Fn-Ctrl key annoying. I guess it's one of those things you don't realize until you actually use it.

for w5f kind of money, i would settle with carrying an extra pound for the extra inch and have a dedicated card on one like z35j

Check out the S6 line...If I was a high roller, I'd be ALL over it.

The leather is just filthy (and I mean that as a term of endearment!)

Filthy after all that coffee gets spilled on it and soaks in. Coffee-camel color? :) The S6 reminds me of the first generation iBooks.... blue, pink, green...

W5F looks good and retailers are finally getting it in stock. Maybe I'll go and check it out in a store.

You can't continue to spin the camera... so there is no worry of breaking the wires.... it turns out and has a stop and turns in and has a stop... but good thinking regardless.
