Seems like this model don't get much attention and hype as the others. I reckon its time for W5F users to pen down your opinions, satisfactions, dis-satisfactions, technical issues here to discuss.
For me I will be making my purchase next week. The closest contender to the W5F was the A8J. I decided on the former since its mainly for work (so portability is a main factor) and a dad-to-be won't have the luxuary of playing my fav games. BUT ITS OKAY.![]()

Although it's a very nice looking notebook, it's a bit overpriced for what you get. I believe it's only one open dimm slot, a 1.66 core duo processor... For the same price, why not sacrifice a pound and get a stronger processor, one of the best notebook GPUs, and 2 more inches of real estate? And if you do want a portable notebook, unless you absolutely need a mobile notebook right now, why not just wait for the W7J? For about the same weight, and hopefully the same price, you get 1 more inch of screen real estate and a GeForce 7400.

I do sort of need a notebook now.
In any case, the W7J is definitely a cool machine, its pretty ideal too BUT
1) I don't need the graphic cards since its mainly for business usage
2) The only time I need to use anything graphical would be when I transfer my DV-Camcorder videos to a DVD disc
3) I don't really have the luxury of time to play games.
To me, it will be a never ending story of a waiting game.. what for? Moreover, the W7J may take till August before its being introduced.. then come August, I may think.. WHY NOT WAIT FOR THE NEW PROCESSOR..
Its a vicious cycle.
Thanks for your advice though.. I do understand where you are coming from but in my point of view, I must know when to draw the line. -
Hi Ejl,
Need to ask you something. The W5F has a Express PCI slot. What is the primary use of it? Can it be used to plug in anything useful to enhance the performance of the W5F? -
here's a good link explaining the new card slot:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=44753
however, if you are thinking that you can put in a gpu, that is not possible. -
Sheesh.. you seem to know what I am thinking buddy! ;P
Did you use a 12" machine before? My wifey just highlighted something to me... since I will be using the notebook for alot of spreadsheet + access database development + data extraction (by the thousands)... do you think this notebook's screen will be a strain if I constantly stare at it for hours a day?
In addition, with the specs of the W5F, will it be able to handle 600k entries of data in Access?
If RAM is the sole concern.... then I need to think wat to do with it. Cos the disty brought in the models of the W5F from Taiwan that contains 512MB (on-board) + 512MB on-chip.. So I am either stuck with that or dump the 512MB and get a 1GB one? (with the fact that W5F only have 1 slot!!!)
Silly me not to consider this? If the W5F is unable to fulfill, then its back at the drawing board again.. the maybe the A8JC may possibily be a better alternative...
