What is the downside to someone in the US buying from Canada? It's been said that the W5F won't be available in black in the US, but it is available in Canada. Are there any warranty issues or differences in how the Canadian version might be outfitted (slower harddrive, etc)? Or is it simply a matter of cost?

    The specs are:

    Asus W5F CD$2039 ( Black or White color )
    T2300, 12.1" WXGA, DVDRW, 100G 5400rpm, 512M, XP Home, 1 yr Global warranty.

There is no downside, except, customs, but I've heard that they don't charge you customs for computers....from Canada -> US. So I've heard.

There's no difference in specs...your only downside as Coriolis mentioned is going to be any customs fees or taxes. Infact if you prefer the black and can find a reputable dealer here in Canada with good shipping rates, I'd say It's almost a better deal, and you might end up saving some money in the end.

The W5F is one kickass ultraportable, I think it's the best looking ASUS available right now...the black version that is...if the webcam was integrated better, with a lower profile LCD bezel, I'd say It would be the nicest laptop in existence :)

Good luck with whatever you decide on doing.
