Hello ,
This is a question for all the Asus W5F and W5FM notebook owners.
I just got my brand new W5F(m) notebook , but i just noticed someting strange.
When i'm working in a quite room i can hear a strange high frequency noise comming out of the noitebook speakers its like there is interferance of some radio wave source that you can here ...
I can also hear it in my headphones , sometimes it disappears for a second or 2.
I've allready downloaded new sound drivers for the Realtek high definition audio chipset and also a new Bios ..
Does anyone know someting about this problem , the sound drives me mad![]()
EDIT : Also my second W5F has the problem (only when running on battery power) ... But for pepople who might have the same problem ... when I activate the webcam the sounds stops ... Also when you disable the webcam in the hardware manager of windows the sound is gone . So maybe it is a driver problem instead of a design fault ... lets hope for an update

I also have that problem in my asus v6j. i think it is a problem across many models made by asus
-
My Asus W5F does not suffer from any speaker noise. Can you return it?
-
It was reported in more than just the V6J, (at least) several types of notebooks suffer from it.
I've read some time ago that a BIOS update fixed it for an older model.
Other than that, I don't think there's much we can hope for. A lot of electrical components packed together in such a small place -- it seems that it's inevitable to get interference sometimes.
On my V6J it only happens on battery, btw. -
mm your right it only happens on battery power ...
I contacted ASUS about it and they claim that its not a known issue ...
There's one thing i dont understand , they put a High definition sound card with a digital output in de W5F but there is interference noise ... Rather a waste of money.
Its realy a shame because , except the sound problem it is a great laptop.
I just called the store and they want to give me another W5F , lets hope its just a manufacturing fault , Its worth a shot
W5F notebook >> high frequency noise ???
