Hey Guys... well the next new model arrived today. The nicest thing about the new W5 is that it's got the same DVD burner the new V6va has.. I know this is something a lot of you have been waiting for. They also increased the cpu to the 1.86ghz and the hard drive from a 40gb (and more recently a 60gb) to a 100gb.

*sigh*...what's with these 100GB 4200RPM drives that Asus is putting into the Ensemble series.
60GB 5400 is 1000x better in my opinion...
but nonetheless, the W5Ae is looking quite good

Well the W5 and S5 always had 4200rpm drives....... but for those it was always based on the type of machine it is.
Oh... by the way, I opened on up and found an open SO-DIMM...... yet 512mb of system RAM......... I assumed it must be all on-board, but I talked to Asus and they confirmed.... 512mb of RAM is on-board, which frees this unit up to allow 1.5gb of max RAM in this little 12" widescreen. -

This update makes this a completely awesome unit........ dvd burner, 512mb onboard, 100gb hard drive.....

Sounds pretty sweet, especially for a 12.1".
How is the battery life? And is it available in anything other than the (kind of scary) white? I'm not sure I'd want a laptop that looks like an iBook! -

.. it doesn't really look like an ibook, but these come in only white. We've got a few of the lets call them, "current" configuration -- in black. The only thing I'd suggest is that I could also get you that dvd burner for that black unit, but it's got 512mb (256mb on board and a 256mb stick=512mb) and a 60gb hard drive.... all in all, with that dvd burner it'll end up costing about the same, but you'll get a 2 year warranty on the older model, along with a wireless mouse and carrying case.... So that's really what I'd suggest.
W5ae's w/ 1.86ghz CPU / 4x Super Multi DVD Burner / 100gb HDD Now Available!
