If you read Slashdot you've seen this, but aparently there is a huge bug in the XP SP2 ACPI driver that prevents Core Duo processors from sleeping properly if you connect a USB 2.0 device. This results in the loss of 1 hour or so of battery life the instant you plug in a USB 2.0 device.

I'm glad I bought Sonoma.... If you read the article they are comparing a W5a to a W5f. I was wondering if Eddie or Justin could pass this issue along to ASUS pre-emptivly to see what their comment is about it, or if you've heard anything about it.

Confirmation from another source would be nice as well.

I have heard about bugs and it's one reason this chipset didn't get released back in November...... It's something that I'm sure will be rectified by Asus as they usually write their own ACPI drivers for all of their notebooks...... But it's exactly like you said... it's a big, not something that can't be solved with a little software tweak.

No one - and I mean NO one has reviewed a final production Asus napa platform model yet....... so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Asus wouldn't sell a system with an issue like that.

As I figured. I wouldn't put it past Dell or HP/Compaq to do that, but not Asus. Even less Asus USA, after that U5 trackpad issue. Picky = good in my mind.

It might be interesting to hear a vendors take on the issue, and not Intel/MS trying to cover their collective asses....
