    I was offered a good deal which I couldn't pass up on for my F9Dc-A1 so now I'm looking at picking up a W7 model. Here's what I'm looking at:

    F9Dc-A1 ---> W7J-3P115C

    AMD Turion TL56 1.8 vs Intel Core2Duo T5500 1.66G
    2 GB RAM vs 1.5 GB RAM
    Geforce 8400G M vs Geforce 7400
    12.1" vs 13.3"

    On one hand, it's a step-up in build quality and a bigger screen, but on the other hand am I taking a big step back in performance? I plan on running Vista Business.

    Also I can muster about 2.3 hrs of battery life in power saver mode on the F9, will the W7 fare any better?

    You'll notice that the W7 has better build quality and imo looks better as well. THe cpu performance will be a step up and battery life as well, C2D's are faster and more effcient than the Turions. Obviously you'll be getting a large screen so thats a bonus. From a gpu perspective the 7400 is older than the 8400 and is DX9 only, however in reality the 8400 wouldn't do anything much in DX10 anyways. The 7400 will be fine for some occaisional gaming.

    Both are nice notebooks but the W7 i think has the upper hand, only thing missing on it, is the HDMI port, but that may not be a big issue to you.
