I am having an issue with the monitor (lcd) turnig back on again after it has turned off via the "Turn Off Monitor" setting (in power options).

Is anyone else having that issue? Any suggestions for a resolution?

Close the lid and open it again. Then press a button and it will turn on again. Cheers!

Yes, that will work because it will hybernate when I close the lid.

That doesn't fix the underlying problem, though.

    i had this problem

the problem disappeared when i formatted my HDD to 4k clusters NTFS and reinstalled from my own winXP CD (NOT the recovery disk). I got my winXP from college so it was cheap, so not as a great solution for most people since it'd cost them ~150 bucks :-/.

    It reboots.

I am not talking about standby or hybernation. Just when the screen shuts off.

I don't like my computer going to standby or hibernating when I close the lid. Why not set it to do nothing, FN + Sleep to go to standby and power button to hibernate...

When my screen powers off I have to press a key to wake it back up. If I move the mouse it does nothing.

mine does the same thing, when the screen turns off but the computer is still running, the screen wont turn back on. What I did was set the power button to put the computer into stand-by. I would make it sleep and wake it back up. Again not a fix, but.....

Again, if you format the HDD and use a real winXP disk instead of recovery disk to reinstall, 4kcluster ntfs and stuff, the problem disappears.

Hmm. That's hardly a fix, although it does fix the issue. Wonder if ASUS will spring for the real XP disk? Doubt it. :(

Happens to me too. I've had to close the lid and reopen it. Wonder where the problem is? (I did the NTFS conversion to 4K clusters, but without re-installing XP).

there was a thread while back (1.5 month or so back) about the exact same problem w/ other models (a8jm or the wj3, i forget). No real solution was found except people telling others to diable to LCD off thing in the power saving preference.

I solved the problem by disabling "LCD Power Savings" in the BIOS. It has had no negative effect on my battery life.

Is there a way to enable the LCD to turn back automatic when you open it?
