Hi guys,
I just bought myself a W7J. But I believe it is an older model I got it for $1100 usd + tax. What do you guys think?

That's fine, especially if the unit is brand new. The cheapest I've seen (through resellers) is $1299.00 USD, but that was with the -$100 from asus, that rebate is now over, and -$100 from the seller. That's for the exact same unit as yours. Is it white, your W7J?
Remember to get the free 2nd year warranty.
At the moment Asus is making a change to Merom (Core 2 Duo) processors, so yes, you've got "last years" model per se.
When it cross the boarder, I think it would be approx $1400.00 CND due to GST on the unit. It's still a good deal.
Have fun with you new toy. -

Well, before you get into if you got a good deal, you have to know that the "yonah" - code name - cpu IS what is considered the mobile Core Duo cpu... and that is what would be in a Centrino Duo laptop.... It's 32bit.. which is the "older" model.... and that price is fine. It would seem that you just got the rebated price but perhaps whoever you bought it from is going to take that on their end... who knows.

I think that is the case since it was purchased when the rebate was happening. -
It's not brand new. It's been used for a couple of weeks. Does that place have the white one? -
Not at that price, the only place I know that sells white is milestonepc for the full price. Since its only a couple weeks old (2 weeks) you unit should be able to get the 2nd warranty, right?...Ok, I'm not too sure, but most likely not, if the original owner has not sent in the warranty card/application. Maybe justin may shed some light. I would be nice though.
Yes, you won't be able to get the Vista upgrade, or the rebate, but it's still a good deal, be happy! And, for some odd reason, your user name reminds me of another person....... -

I would tell you - no you didn't get a good deal...... especially if you save you bought it used... one day, one month, or one year.. it doesn't matter.... it's used...... but to not get the rebate, the extra year warranty, or the vista upgrade.... yeah, I wouldn't call it a deal at all... it's only as good as you think it is.... but the value of the things you didn't get are certainly more than you saved... .so in my book that's considered a bad deal... but if you think it's good, that's all that matters.

mythless, Justin was no more blunt than you were, he said he doesn't think it was a deal, but that this is something that is in the eye of the beholder. To be honest, it doesn't sound terrible to me. Its far cheaper than my V6j, but I would still take the V6j over the W7j any day.

I'm not calling their mother a whore or their sister ugly... The question was asked and after they provided more information - no, I certainly don't think so..... Did I say it so they'd go and cry about it? ... no..
... asked and answered... like I usually do. But, like I said.. if they think it was a good deal, that's all that matters - but obviously the question was just dying to be asked... It isn't the end of the world either way, but just because they already bought it doesn't make it any less of a time to tell them the truth. Now, if they asked this prior to buying it and I answered the same way, someone would say I said it because my company sells them..... there's always got to be something said....
It comes down to whatever they feel is "good"..... that's the bottom line.. -

Brand new w7j can be had for 1250$ after rebate. You bought your w7j used. if it is in like new condition i guess its ok. If used for 5 months maybee not. If used a few weeks or month and in new condition i would go for it. Warranty is serialized. You wont have any problems but asus may request receipt if close to end of warranty. Another thing you may have missed out on is the 2nd year extension
W7J - Did I get a good deal?
