I've been thinking about buying my second laptop for a while.

My plan is to either buy DELL XPS1210 or ASUS w7j (but i like w7j better).

    My questions are :

    1. Is there a place where I can GET A W7J WITH ONE 9 CELL BATTERY?" I mean ONE battery--I know places that sell W7Js with an ADDITIONAL 9 cell battery, but i only want one battery.

Because this is my second laptop, I am not in a hurry at all. So if I'll have to wait for new 9 cell battery W7Js, I can wait.

2 .If you name a seller, could you also state its dead pixel policy if you can? Thank you.

    3. How easy is it to drop in a new CPU (coz i plan to upgrade to Merom)? Do you need to reapply the thermal paste? or you can simply open it up and put the new CPU in?

    Thanks for all your help.

The W7j default comes with a 6 cell, so you can't do anything there. It is included in the box from the factory.

The DPP are usually stated on the sites, and depending on the dealer, you can ask for them to check the screen beforehand. I know MileStonePC personally checks every unit they ship out for dead pixels(and the ones that do have dead pixels, they sell it at a discount).

The CPU is still 'iffy' at the momment, hard to say, but it should be just a drop in - thermal paste if you want, or use the default thermal pad included.

CPU could be soldered like 512 MB of RAM.

It's not good to make assumptions. Asus has only had one system ever with a soldered cpu and that was the S5ne two and half years ago.

That's right. In fact, you can easily switch CPUs via a comparment on the bottom of the machine. Although that will void your warranty, so beware.
