Hi, got the machine few weeks ago, so far so good. Except for one thing, when I was trying to use the built-in microphone, I got problems. It picks up very bad background noise, yet HARDLY picks up speaking voice. My mouth have to be 1 inch beside it for it to bearly pick up my voice. Yet, when I plug in a microphone in the jack, it works completely fine.

Anyone having this issue? Any way how I can fix this? I wish to be able to chat (ie. webcam) without putting on a headset.

    Thanks

I only tested it with Windows Sound Recorder. Picked up my voice OK from about 1 ft away. Did you raise the mic volume to max in Control Panel's Relatek HD Sound Effect Manager

Xmen155.. did you ever find a resolution to the lousy mic issues on the w7j? I don't know how I missed your post, as I'd bought mine just a few months earlier and I just gave up for a while in trying to make it work without an ancillary mic. You can reply to [email protected] if you'd be so kind.

His last post here was Feb 2007 - I doubt he's around anymore, unfortunately, but good luck!.

Better to post the question in the W7 Owner's Lounge thread, which is more recent.
