Is anyone else having trouble getting a full connection (full bars) on your wireless? Even when I sit next to the wireless box, I dont have a full connection. Also when I'm using the wireless at school, I'm finding I can't even connect to some of the weak signals... my VAIO on the other hand was able to..

is this happening with you other w7j owners?

I'm only about 10' from my router and only get about 60% strength. My gf's HP DV2000NR is about 15' from the router and always gets 100%. I don't know if it's the wireless card, antenna placement in the laptop, or the software. I haven't yet tried mine in another location farther away. Mine always connects just fine, but then, at 10' it should, and should be 100% as well.

trusting the number of wireless bars is not the best way to test your signal strength. some notebooks just report wireless signal more strongly than others. the best way to check if there is actually a problem, download the same file on two different computers at the same distance from your router. if you are getting the same download speeds, i really wouldn't worry about it.

    No issues here, either.

You may want to check your driver settings in device manager; there is a place there to set signal strength parameters.

I use Vista and I tried to update the driver, but it still didn't work. To me this is really important cuz sometimes I'm at school in places where the wireless is really weak and I haven't been able to get a tiny grasp of the connection... when I had my vaio, it was able to though. Thanks you guys for your input. everything and anything helps. I've contacted asus about it and they told me to re-install vista. =( that will be my last option, as it's really tedious to re-install everything.

I've reinstalled Vista twice. Not for that reason, but for other reasons. It didn't make a lick of difference.

But since I last posted I tried walking all over the house with the laptop From one end of the house to the other, upstairs and downstairs it stayed at 60%. Even when I put it right up next to the router it reads 60%. On the other hand it seems to work just fine everywhere I tried it, so I think in my case it's just the indicator in Vista that is at fault, not the actual reception, so I'm not gonna worry about it anymore.

But it would be nice to have the correct indication.
