Just got dat monster. First in Russia, me thinks.
So... nice and heavy peace of aluminum. Also stylish but more powerful after my W2W.
Mommy limiting my expenses badlyand Vg and Vp version still not on the market, so I owned W90V, with 17'' and 3850X2@1Gb (is it a single card or dual i still idk, but CCC showing two w/out option to switch one off) T9400 also not the best one. 6 gigs also on board.
I still not test it completely, but first thing to check was of corse a 3DMark... Sticker on the notebook's package was too large - 15000!)
No joy, colleagues. Mine is only 6200..![]()
Test was completed on 64 Home prem Vista and original Cat 8.9 provided by ASUS in package. New asus 25% tweak utility is on. CCC on default. Im using 3DMark Vintage with standard settings.
Yes, I understand that famous 15000 was reached on T9600 with 4870X2, but its so strange to have almost triple downgrading results...
Im open for any questions if you interested in details and also be happy to hear any advises as in fact im complete noob in this, Im just stick to asus a long time ago and addicted to pc games badly.)
So sorry, ima stupid monkey! 13873 3DMarks on 3DMark06
-
what resolution are you running it at? Full?
I'm sure the 3DMark06 achieved in the W90V was at 1280x1024 or less. You're may have been run at full 1920x1200 res. But still, and I aim this squarely at more experienced members to correct me, the 3850x2 (3850's in Crossfire) should score roughly that, if not higher (at 1920x1200). I believe the 3850x2's usually score around the 10000 - 12000 3DMark06 point?
Of course I refer to the Mobility Radeons here -
nope, 3DMark test was set on 1280 by default
-
You said your using 3dmark Vantage right? 3dmark06 is an older version that scores higher, I'd assume 15,000 is a 3dmark06 score as virtually nothings scores that high in vantage yet.
-
r u running vantage or 3dmark 06 cuz i found it kinda hard to understand what u wrote?
-
Hi there,
May I please kindly ask how much did you pay for the W90 system ?
Thanks & Warm Regards

3DMark® Vantage (Build 1.0.1) *NEW VERSION* is that i bought yesterday. asus mentioned 15000 on 3dmark06. I didnt realize that both benchmarks from the same developer could score it differently... will check 06 results later today.

Is that in Euro ?

nope, it was 3450 USD in Russian rubles by current exchange rate.
-
Thats a very very expensive laptop !!!
Them M17 or OCZ Extreme with them dual 3870 definately wasnt that expensive ...

13873 3DMarks was submitted. You was right, 3Dmark 06 scoring a lil bit different instead of Vintage. Im glad now

Thats really good though plus once you pdate the drivers it should be really good
im shocked this notebook came out already......can you provide pics? Thanks in advance.
also falling cat my friend you should know that you cant do a straight conversion of internationally money it should be substantially less for the US market. -
photos. lil bit dark, but ya know its always winter and snow here, wer drinking vodka and bears walking on the streets.
to be serious, Crysis WH gives me around 40fps... but who cares, Armed Assault not launching at all! Looks like she dont like crossfire...Any one knows a solution? Catalyst still the same, because 8.12 cannot be installed even with ModTool. When 9.1 should be released?

Dude congratulations!!! At the beginning i wasnt sure if you were telling the truth but i believe you now
it looks amazing man congrats!!
i'm shocked, you must be the first person to have this laptop because everyone was saying march/april my picture look pretty cool on the notebook
Crysis WH running at 40FPS sounds good is that at High/Very high? Also Armed assault may not support crossfire try disabling one of the GPU's and see if it will work that should fix it.
What do you think about the build quality in person?
Best of luck to you though. -
ha, good question how to disable one GPU in 3850X2? No such option in my Cat.
-
Wow, the notebook is out already!?
Is it available for retail in Russia or you managed to snag one in special circumstances?? -
nothing special, regular asus retailer http://www.kns.ru/vcd-21033/catalog.html but sold out already.
-
NO WAY!!! Seriously?!?!? its out????
im feeling skeptical though dude....... -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
lol xed me and you had the same intitial reaction. Alien, go to the gaming section and ask how to disable it
they will know there
It seems as if only the 17" model is out now there is no 18.4" -
ASUS FTW.
For the owner, you're the man! -
Ah, the reason its already available is because these models are using the older Radeon HD3000 series. I wonder if for these models, you'll be able to upgrade to the 4870s later on? I wouldn't mind buying a W90 right now and upgrading the GPU later in the year.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
i really like the 18.4" so i might wait it out im impressed though over 13,000 3dmark for two 3850's is still hella good.
Also i notice you have a glass near your notebook with my pic on screen is that a toast to me? -
So what is the 3DMark06 score?
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
...its a score that determine the 3d performance of your GPU. GPU is your video card
-
Also, I hear the models with the HD3870X2 and 9800M will use 1920x1200 17" screen whereas the ones with HD4870X2 will use a 18.4" 1920x1080 screen. Its a shame to see 16:9 replacing 16:10 and seeing a reduction in vertical space. Most movies STILL have bars with 16:9 screens so that makes it even more upsetting. -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
lol i always forget about the darn CPU haha.
oh that sucks to here about the 1920 x 1080 but i guess ill have to do with it somehow -

I dont know in use if it would work better than how it looks but its so big that the keyboard looks recessed and small. I like how on the G50V th keyboard stl takes up the majority of the base and I do not have 5" of plastic on each side
Since I do not really game on my laptop anymore I am sticking with the G50V for now but I do look forward to an upgrade in about a year or so if something good comes out.
I would like a laptop fast enough to do video rendering/encoding so I need a quad core pretty much and the current quads in laptops are overpriced and not that good. -
Have you looked at the recent Q9000 processor? It is much cheaper than the QX9300 processor with roughly 500mhz reduction in clock speed and half the L2 cache but also about 1/3 of the price with some Acer Aspire 8930G and HP HDX18 models using them at under $1900.

ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
So I need to wait for the next gen notebook quads before it would be worth the investment to me, also the G50V is still new. I need to get some use out of it.
A die shrink would be good too, another reason to wait. -
I envy you Alien so much!
I want bears in the streets here too! :-(
But in Italy we don't have even a in' squirrel! -
you know, this W90 "could" be based on the G71 chassis. plus, it uses the HD3850 which is readily available. maybe that's why its out so early.
unfortunately, i dont have any evidence so yea.... -
Thank you for warm words folks, looks like you have a pretty friendly community here.)))
and yeah, my asus retailer confirmed that they just received first ten 90V with 3850X2 @17", but expecting 18" witn NV9800 till the end of the month. Price will be around $4K. They sad notes already in Moscow, but not passed customs clearence yet. They didnt have any ETA of HD4800 ver at all.
my monster still stick to the table by two reasons: fist, I dont understand how to take it with me outdoors, not because of case size or weight (pretty normal tbh, but size and weight of its ac adapter still scaring me) but mostly beacause its fit its own backpack badly. Notebook comes with same backpack as my first G2, but its too smal.
second - im still unable to launch the game for which it was bought - ARMA. Some combination of vista 64, 6gb of RAM and ati drivers preventing game from launch. I google it all around world, tonns of solutions was proposed, but helpless.. so glass of wine still half empty, will finish it with ARMA launch.
Maybe do you have any suggestions, why im unable to install latest 8.12 drv but could easily do it with 8.11 through ModTools...??? -
Wow, I didn't know that the W90 was already available for consumer sale.
If you don't mind and if it won't void your warranty, could you take pictures of the inside of the notebook with the bottom cover off (so we could see the CPU, Memory, GPU, etc.)? If not, it's all good seeing that it's a spanking new notebook. -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hey just a heads up, make sure you register your notebook with Asus so you get the 2 year warranty with the first year being accidental coverage, good luck!
-
-
ouch! nevermind then, have fun with your W90. Looks like a beast!
-
new Cat 9.1 with ATI Overdrive on + asus turbo gear set on overclocking...

Nice, awesome score
-
Wait, what? you're able to use ATi Overdrive? where did you get the drivers?
-
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
thats a great score! Is that windows XP you are using?
-
Looks like vista with the classic theme, tray icons are vista style and its the uber basic "classic windows" look on everything else.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
lol you are right it probably is the classic theme.
-
wow, u totally suprised me...I thought at lest few more months till release....congratz

you can download it here http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/ .. then take a screen shot of it. You can also use Windows "Snipping Tool" to save it to file then post the pic here.
-
Alien, congrats on that system. I stumbled upon this a while back, but forgot to say it
Also, looks great with the Asus Overclocking. -
Alien61 can you uploode your direct console for some testing with my asus
