what's the difference between these two computers? i'm looking for a mobile gaming rig and this seems like the best bang for the buck. also, where is a good place to buy one of these computers? and if it is possible, do these sites have coupons?

i was going to buy this hdx 18t before i got talked into the asus computers by forum members:
    – Upgrade to Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    – Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad Processor QX9300 (2.53Hz)
    – $100 OFF!! 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) - For 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 130M
    – 640GB 7200RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (320GB x 2) with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    – 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 130M - For DDR3 Memory
    – 18.4" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p)
    – Blu-Ray +/-R/RW with SuperMulti
    – Webcam + Fingerprint Reader with HP Imprint Finish (Fluid)
    – Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth
    – 50% OFF!! HP Integrated HDTV Hybrid Tuner
    – Full Size Backlit Keyboard
    – 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    – No Productivity Software
    – HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

you think it's a good choice for school + gaming? i don't really care about weight.

BTW did u notice the free backpack and mouse? Useful especially for lugging the tank around.

EDIT - If you looked at gentech they offer some upgrades but for the most part ASUS's are prebuilt it seems though they used to be into kits like MSI. Not the Q9000 to Q9300 upgrade at gentech did seem to have an extreme pirce on it didnt seem worth it.

yeah, i saw that but the increase in processor speed didn't seem worth the 1k price tag when the machine seems to meet all my gaming needs. i was talking more along the lines of being able to pick, like a wireless card with bluetooth so i can sync up to my phone.

The W90Vp-A1 already comes stock with a wireless N card and bluethooth. There's really not many options for further upgrade other than the CPU, hard drive, ram and OS.

The X1 on new egg doesnt seem to have bluray for starters unlike whatever the model is on GenTech im too tired and lazy to try and find all the differences.

The Gentech one has 2 320GB HDD's for a total of 640 but new egg doesnt make it clear wether there is a second 320 on the X1 or not. They both have fingerprint readers it looks like

ahh.. so the x1 is just like, a "dumbed-down" version of the a2? when in doubt, i usually go with the larger model number and pricetag... i don't mind paying 100 extra - i just wanna know what i'm paying 100 extra for. lol.

As Clutch said, the X2 has no bluray and only has 1 hard drive. Also you'll be missing out on the superior after-sales service that only resellers can offer. IMO, the extra $150 is well worth the price.

I don't think Gentech offers any coupons, but they do offer a discount if you pay via PayPal e-Check.

Yes, I absolutely agree. The Asus W90 is currently the best gaming notebook on the market and there's no doubt, it's workmanship, features and warranty are superior than the HP. The only exception I can see is the battery life, but poor battery life is expected on all extreme gaming systems.
