Is there any difference between the X1 & A1 in respect to cooling? I mean can I buy an X1 and install a QX9300 and have the same effect? (other than the drives) and save some cash, or is the A1 setup for hotter running CPU's in some way?
I'm looking to play games only so should I get a QX9300 or a T9800? Which would be better for max frame rates?

a qx9300 is 2.53ghz whereas a t9800 is 2.8ghz. i would get the quad because its only 300mhz less, its an extreme, and it has 4 cores. the quad can easily be overclocked to 3.5ghz, even up to 4ghz. plus the asus has a great cooling system, and for the a1 and x1 its the same.
note: the asus can be overclocked

The T9800 is the newer 2.93 chip, the T9600 is the 2.8 that's in the X1.
Has anyone OC'd an A1 with a QX9300 to over 3.2Ghz stable in a stock system yet? I thought the QX9300 in the A1 could only be OC'd 5%? If so I would pick up a QX9300 off ebay for $600-$800 and bang! Done! -
ah im sorry.
nevertheless, the qx9300 will have higher overclocks than the t9800.
i would get it hands down. a user has posted a 20,000 3dmark 06 score at 4ghz stable.

intel's say on the overclocking ability:

and if you get a qx9300, make sure it is oem and not an engineering sample or ES.
if you can manage to get the asus and the qx9300 overclocked, you will have the fastest "laptop" on earth...at least for several months
