What was up with this? Just out of nowhere the unit shuts off, as it was only on for 45mins, so no way it can be overheating. And then I couldnt power it on, the light would flash for half a second and hear the fan start up for 1sec then stop. I finally removed the battery for 5mins and put it back in and it did it. What the [edited] is this bull[edited]? Seriously...I am not impressed, and if my laptop is [edited]ed then Im going straight to hell. Whos to say it wont do it again in 10mins?

And again, it boots the desktop and it freezes, mouse doesnt even move.

I think im going to sell this piece of [edited] and buy new one tomrw. Im so fed up.

    Learning Asus,
    I concur with Johnny9ball.
Are you having computer problems or just seeking attention. I am offended by the swearing in your posts and tired of the repeated drama.

uhh i am not making this up. I have been trying to fix this for the last [edited] 3hrs, spending my entire night on it. Anyways im in a tough situation now. I have to send it in to the depot either way. So I could either...

    1) send it in, get it all fixed. Tommorow buy a desktop, and [edited] the laptops since i have so much trouble with them. Sell the ASUS when i get it back. Take the loss. Mind you the scratch will still be on the LCD.

    2) Send it in, buy another laptop (looking at either acer, HP or Sony), sell the ASUS when i get it back

Either way no way im keeping it now. Even if i send it in for repairs, that will be up to 2 weeks, and then ill have to send it off the the USA for the polarization on the LCD, another 3 weeks...so that is a month just about sending this bloody thing out here and there. [edited] that, i have no time or patience for that.

Its off to the depot tommorow, and I will buy another computer.

i have owned many asus and all were trouble free. Just send it in and get it fixed be back in a week good as new. dont freak out its just a computer **** happens. first try taking the ram out and running one dimm at a time. if that doesnt work asus will take care of you or whoever your reseller is. no reason to be so dramatic though you and sexy beast seem to be one is the same when it comes to get overly excited with your laptops. you both have the same ones i believe as well. I have had like dozens of pcs over the years and had trouble with many it just happens with everything really dont see why you get so upset just get the warranty taken care of. Do you sell a car because it goes into the shop no you just deal with it.

Well because what am i going to do without a computer at home for 1-2 weeks. And then what, ill have to ship it off to the states for the LCD polarization. thats a lot of trouble to me.

If i sell it, i would get $1200 max.

Learning_ASUS - please do not swear or curse on the forums, we don't allow that. And try to calm down, nobody's been able to help you because you are, no offense, frantic.

I'd listen to the advice of the forum members and let them help you out if you do your part as well.

    Thanks,
    Chaz

Posting method in the forum: Sexybeast (lots of !!! and long winded topic titles), Learning_Asus (long winded topic titles and alot of !!!)

Coincidence? You decide... and so goes on the continuing soap opera on the Asus forums...

Their IP's and hostname are different, but I'm sure they are both Canadian, as both hosts are on the west coast.

I hope they are not the same person, but its too co-incidental. There is also a person of Red Flag Deals and the NBF forums, who all have very similiar problems.

Without knowing the whole story, we don't know who's who, and what happened, so until we learn about the situation we can't really say anything.

    Learning_ASUS's reseller was CanadaSys btw.

This is electronics and unfortinatly itÂ’s destined to fail, sooner or later. Asus is one of the best laptop makers out there, but there is always one rotten apple some where in the tree. Just try to relax and get it worked out.

im just upset cause i was lookin fwd to getting it polarized and now thats been delayed cuz i have to get it serviced first.

ill pick up a laptop today to use in the meantime and who knows, if i fall in love with that one more ill keep it and sell the asus when iget it back.

But if it all comes back to me well, then i most likely would just go ahead with the lcd too.

I hope so. Though, I have to go 3, maybe 4 weeks without being able to use it (ASUS first, then screentek). I dont really want to have to pick up another laptop to use in the meantime, but I have no choice. No way I can go 2-3 weeks without a comp. at home. It is a bit of a nousense, having to go buy it, pack it back up and refund it though.

Let me tell you though, this is one of the strangest problems Ive ever seen. Laptop freezes at startup, turns off out of nowhere, wont turn back on, or else goes to the centrino logo and freezes. So odd....sounds serious too!

Holy **** I was wondering the same thing.

So they're NOT the same person. hahaha.

Learning_ASUS you should get together with sexybeast.

Anyhoo' about your problems. I know how difficult it can be when a whole assortment of problems come crashing down on you, whether it be something like this or family related.

Dig deep and be a man (sorry ladies :)). Just send in your unit and let Danny at Canadasys know your situation and I'm sure he'd be happy to set up a special condition to get your system to you as quickly as possible.

Being without a computer for that period of time wouldn't kill you unless you are completely dependent on your computer for business or school. If it's the latter I'm sure your school has computers you can use.

You keep mentioning how serious the problem is. Well I guess it is so stop trying to turn it on it won't do any good. Sounds like something on your mobo died or your cpu wasn't set properly or it's power related, which takes us back to your mobo and how it is distributing power amongst your system parts.

Send it in and you will have everything fixed.

OMG, OMG, OMG I can't live without my computer for that long~!~!~! Well then you're outta luck and no one here can offer you any help.

The only suggestion anyone can give to you is to contact your reseller.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Danny, wont do jack squat at CanadaSys

Trust me, I cant live without at least internet at home for that 2 weeks, that would be hell. The other week before buying this unit I went 2 days and that was murder. Im always online when at home, I have no friends, and relax on my weekends :p So without a comp. I would be staring at drywall.

If there was some other cheaper, maybe smaller device that will still allow me to get online, i would consider using that for 2 weeks.

Sony PSP or Palm is the only thing, but that would be a pain staring at that tiny lcd all day.

What the heck is wrong with you. That's your own fault and doing. Watch TV~!

Alas, they are the same person. Just take it from someone who's seen it all on NBF and over here; if you want evidence, I'll post links to the full story when I actually have time.

The fine fellow known as Learning_Asus is also known as Sexybeast here on NBR, and more notoriously as MasterQ on Notebookforums, where he did a great job of stinking up the Off Topic forum. In the past year, he's gone through five laptops. None of them have lasted very long. If I recall correctly, they were:

    • Toshiba M30 (which had unspeakable atrocities inflicted upon it)
    • Toshiba M70
    • Toshiba M60
    • Asus Z83V
    • HP dv8000

5 laptops O_O That's scary... I mean I guess you could do that if you had lots of disposable income. But come on how can you wreck 5 laptops over the course of a year?

I think Danny from Canadasys is getting a bad rap from this guy. If it was Canadasys not putting the system together right, I would've sent it back and asked them if they could fix the error, but unfortunately L_A can't do that... what do you want the reseller to do fly across the country with a crack team of laptop specialists to fix a keyboard alignment problem?

Wow moron. You just gave away the fact that you are indeed the same person. Lets see, you just joined the forum, and yet you already know who sexybeast is, and the fact that he pretended to post that he is a female. Your question you "asked" needs only the metal capcity of a 4 year old with downs syndrome to figure out that it is a poor attempt at a cover up (Yes I hate retards, so blow me). Maybe you have some kind of sick and twisted fantasy and like to dress up in a dominatrix?

I'd bet anyone $1000 that if an admin runs an ip trace, the "two" morons will in fact be posting from the same ip. Of course the mods/admins on this site probably haven't thought of this idea since they seem to be a few fries short of a big mac.

@the rest of the people in this forum *cough*especially you shampoo *cough* : Wow, I can't believe so many of you are dumb enough to believe that this isn't the same person. Too many coincidences. You are all gullible fools.

Flanken seems to be the only one smart enough to realize this...

He never tried to talk to me about sending the laptop back to me, maybe the laptop has been messed up too much, I don't know what happed to the LCD, he never mentioned that to me, I just saw it here.

The only thing he asked me to do was to send keyboards to him, in the past few weeks, he had 3 keyboards already.

As you mentioned just now, I "kept replying" and you had 3 keyboards already, how come you said I "took your money and ran away?"

You got the assemble instruction file already, showing you how to work on the keyboard, I don't think I can explain it better than the instruction file.

BTW, what happened to your LCD? How about the 3rd keyboard I sent to you, working fine now or another bad one?

If im not happy with a product i just eat the restocking fee and move on i dont understand all this drama. and whats with all the different screen names? i think learning asus needs a girlfriend and maybe get out of the house take in some sun light.

Seriously I could only wish for a reseller like that. He already sent out 2 keyboards~!!!!??? Dayam.

I had to send my unit in twice for a creaking and red ghostin problem before the screen was replaced.

    Mike
