I'm very tempting to buy the C90 that use the laptop processor ..

the 13" S37 is also a nice laptop which I want to buy to bring to school and work. S37S with GF 8400 will release end of July based on ISTNC.com

    Any information?

im pretty sure the c90 will never be santa rosa, it is purely for desktop processors (conroe currently). if they release a new version, it will be with the desktop bearlake chipset with yorkfield or wolfdale processors

I think khanhfat is referring to the C80, which is supposed to support a mobile chipset.

Actually it is the C91 that has a mobile chipset, it should be out around september-ish. The C80 is the 17" C90 presumably with the MXM-III slot.

the moble version is sort of pointless in my opinion. you lose the overclocking potential of the cpu and also it has no upgradable gpu, its just standard intergrated.

The only gain is no vents on the back, but they are not that big or obtrusive.

Heh they made a mobile desktop/laptop whatever with the C90, and now they plan to "put a mobile chipset into it" :) That's funny, they make a laptop into a portable desktop and then they change it into a laptop again. This reminds me of that line in the Bugs Bunny cartoons "was this trip really necessary?" :)

Or of that joke that along with all the new features in the new-generation mobile phones they will also be adding voice chat to the IM software.

Or are the mobile-chipset CXX-es supposed to be the new ASUS barebones?

Sorry, I know I was offtopic.

Eh its on topic sounds like you just feel the same way I do about the moble version of the C90S, its really a "whats the point" kind of thing.

As there are already several notebooks that can do moble better than this new version of the c90.

I think since the Z is discontinued, and the S has been all but taken over by VBI, the C series must be Asus' Ace in the hole to stay competitive in the barebone market.

Its doesnt have to be a barebone tho, there are alot of prefabs that let you choose from enough components that its about the same, or that come with stuff that you would want like say the G1S is well equiped stock.

Its just not my cup o' tea I guess.

Besides the intergrated graphics will be the big killer, if i wanted intergrated id probably be looking at a ultra portable.

Why intergrate gfx... I heard there will be a version like C90S but for mobile processors and other components will staythe same..

IMO , the C90S design is better than the Old school S96. They should redesign their 15" line or have something new come up.
