Just wondering which would look better on this 15.4" laptop. I'll probably be doing more gaming than graphic editing, and i'm not sure how good games like Doom 3, Far Cry etc. will look on the native resolution.

WSXGA+ is really perfect on it...... and from the factory it's the only way they've ever come on the VA model........ I hope no one is offering to put a cheaper screen on that unit..

Wsxga is pretty high on a 15.4. Its useable but i can see how alot of people would think its to small. I believe geared2play would put a 1280 x 800 screen from the regular z70a if you wanted on the z70va.

Living in Australia, so Ensemble units all the way it seems. A lot of the online retailers here give mixed descriptions, such as WXGA on the list of laptops, but then in the descriptions they say WSXGA+, so I have to email them to find out which one is correct.

Usually it's the WSXGA+, so if that works well with this notebook, then that's what I'll go for .

The UK version of the M6VA comes with a WXGA display http://www.asuslaptop.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=Asus_Laptop_M6VA-Q023P . I'm among the people who would find WSXGA too small to read comfortable. One can adjust font sizes, but line that are one pixel wide remain as one pixel wide. Ten years ago my eyes would have been happy with the higher resolution, but not now.

As for gaming (not that I do any), surely increasing the resolution will slow down the graphics performance?

Swapping the screen from the older Z70a's would be a total waste because you'll never be able to get full use out of that graphics card..... it's almost like why not just get a Z70a? I know they're not available anymore, but it just seems like a bad idea.

Why wouldnt you get the full use of the graphics card? some people just like 1280 x 800 displays whats wrong with gaming on that i rarely ever run games at the max resolution anyways. swapping is a pain but if your not doing Photoshop work 1280 x 800 is the perfect rez for internet and office stuff.

Well actually the MRX700 is already getting fairly old now. No way you can run newer games at high settings at 1680x1050. For gaming a WXGA would be better. Everything else, WSXGA+ is better, as long as you don't think everything is too small.
