I would like to buy ASUS M6N laptop and I'm not sure which display type to choose.
I saw the WSXGA+ (1680x1050) on HP-Compaq nx7010 and the font was good readable - the display was of high quality.
But I don't know much about qualities of displays on ASUS laptops. Has anyone any experiences with this two types?

I would prefer the WSXGA+, but not sure, if the readability is good and causes not long time reading problems (like defocusing, tideness of eyes etc.)

At least in my part of the world the high res version (WSXGA) is not currently available. So this may answer you question somewhat, as you may have to settle with the WXGA screen. Best to double check with the place you are planing on buying from that the screen is definitely WSXGA.
My experiance with ASUS screens is that they are good, with room for improvement.

Here's a link to Tom's Hardware website, they have a review for the M6000N series notebook, including the display.

I used to have an HP NX7000 series and I must say, HP has some of the brightest/sharpest screens that I have seen IMHO.

The toms hardware review is a good review of the 15" model. They like many others commented on many of the problems that have plagued this specific model. As yet not to many review/reports on the 15.4" screen, although most people on forums seem to be fairly happy with it. Yes I am from Australia, but we happen to be blessed with an over abundance of the complete range ASUS notebooks at a large variety of both local and online computer outlets. As I said before I have not yet found any retailers that are selling the WSXGA model, here in Australia. In addition I have not found any anywhere while searching online for one, nor have I heard of anyone on any forums who actually has been able to purchase one.
Thus my point was that should careful when you order and get a conformation that it is the WSXGA and not the WXGA screen, as to avoid being ripped off. I would be glad to be proven wrong on this issue as I am keen to get hold of the high res M6N for myself.

As for the W1N model, this is also not readily available, with only a in a few places in europe advertising it. Initial reports suggest that it to will also only be shiped with a WXGA screen, to me this suggests that ASUS is perhaps having some trouble with the WSXGA screens in general??

If I am wrong on these issues then my apologies, and please post the links to any stores that maybe selling these notebooks.

    G'day Underpantman!

Lot's of Aussies on this forum lol!

I met this girl who bought an M6N recently, she is extremely happy with it, screen quality was excellent from what i saw of it, excellent detail, she had been researching notebooks for the past 3 months or so before she purchased the Asus and is glad she didn't purchase another brand, speed, quality and portability were her concerns.

Next week i am going to pick myself up an M5N here in Sydney, been researching notebooks for months, there is no comparison in that price range. The guy in the shop showed me the Toshiba R100 the screen casing was bending backwards and forwards, turns the notebook over, made in CHINA! lol, the M5 solid as a rock. i pity the poor people buying laptops from Japanese manufacturers only to find out they were made in China!

Do your research and discover the Asus secret! [ :)]

    Hi All
I myself am an aussie looking to purchase the W1000N notebook.
Being inside the industry I have discovered from the disty that the W1000N will be available in Australia in the next 2 weeks.
    Specs are as follows.

    MPM 1.7G
    512MB x1
    80GB
    15.4” WSXGA+
    DVD-DUAL
    Wireless LAN –G
    XPPro

    RRP will be under $4000

A Version with a built in TV Tuner will be available late next month.
Has anyone seen an Asus WSXGA+ Screen or have any comment on the W1000N?

    Cheers,

    Brayjosh
