Yesterday, Asus listed 3 variants of N53 model in their global website like below.

    1. N53JF: i3/i5/i7 dual core, GT 425M, Optimus, Optional FHD
    2. N53JN: i3/i5/i7 dual core, GT 335M, Optimus, Optional FHD
    3. N53JQ: i7-720QM, GT 425M, No Optimus, Optional FHD

I'm interested for N53JN and waiting for its actual owners review and price in USD :p

I have been checking for something beyond that supersonic media page to materialize for weeks now! I have also been checking the net and notebookcheck to find out more about this GT 425M but I am unable to find anything concrete.

The JQ is the model that Gentechpc & Xoticpc are listing for pre-order for $1149. I am curious to see where the GT 425M ranks vs the GT 335 and the price of the i5 w/ Optimus.

nVidia hasn't even release any information about GT425M. I'm afraid I'll have to wait longer for these 2 :(

What could be the expected price of N53JN considering a i5 dual core and GT 335M ?
Should be under $1000 USD :D

Seems that this baby is already available in Australia for order, why its not available in USA ?

If Asus can release it in Australia what is the problem to release it in USA or other countries ???

i find it hard to believe that it has been released in Australia, especially considering Nvidia haven't shown their whole new line up yet which include GTX 425

I'm getting worried about the FHD option is gonna be realized or not and starting to make a final decision whether to get Sager NP5125 in this stead.

Thing is, would GT425 be powerful enough to enjoy future DX11 games with decent resolution and satisfying level of detail? I doubt it and it may just be a machine I can play with Direct3D11 programming. I probably wouldn't worry about sound since pretty much I use my earphone when listening/watching.

According to Ken, Asus website listed all panels that they might be using for different regions, for North America it does not have FHD screen.

I suspect that we will not be getting the N53JN version. You may have to order one outside of the US in order to get one. I am a little worried that this GT 425M will be worse than the GT 335M and knowing our luck we will be stuck with just the 425M option.

Ok, it's almost out in my country and I'm thinking about buying it. Core i5 450m, geforce 335m, 500gb hdd. I just don't know whether I should get hd ready or full hd version. The price is very similar , but I'm not sure if full hd is not too high resolution for 15.6 screen. Of course it's great to watch movies on such screen, but isn't it hard to use word, surf internet? I use full hd samsung 24" monitor at work, so it's hard for me to imagine how it would be on 15.6 screen
P.s. here's short review I've found in polish website, you can get the idea that this asus is a very nice laptop ;)

You must go for Full HD screen. If you feel the font is too small for you you can always increase it by Windows DPI settings. The advantage with FHD screen is that the image quality will be sharp, clear and smooth also you will get more screen space to work with your computer. 1366x768 resolution really sucks. Its ONLY good for gaming nothing else.

Yes, maybe you're right. Just one more question. I'm not a huge gamer, but occasionally like shoot some s in mw2 or bf2 ;) Would there be any difference if I'd run a game on a laptop with a native resolution 1366x768, or on a laptop with a native resolution 1920x1080 reduced to 1366x768?

^Its always better to go for FHD as you can set your resolution to 720p (1366x768) while gaming. But if you have a 720p screen you can not upgrade it to 1080p. So I STRONGLY suggest to go for Full HD screen else be ready to use the scrollbars of your application window frequently as you will see less per screen :D OMG ! I can not think of it. Life makes hell when I open MS Visual Studio for work on a 1366x768 screen :(

Yeah... I don't really understand what's the deal with not gaming at native resolution. Probably scaling is a problem when you playing 1280x720 at 1366x768 native screen. But it's less a problem when you playing 1366x768 at 1920x1080. You got a lot more and finer dots to interpolate the pixel.

Hey VZX - What made you choose to order the NP5125 over waiting for the N53? I've been on the verge, literally every night, of ordering the NP5125 and saying to hell with the Asus but just haven't brought myself to commit. What made you pull the trigger?

Because I can afford losing the superb laptop speaker quality. My Sennheiser CX 300-II will provide all the sound quality I need

As for GT335M vs GT330M, I've been looking benchmark at notebookcheck.net. In gaming, they don't differ that much, and I can always have it overclocked if I need extra performance. And GT 425M performance wouldn't be any higher than 335M I suppose. If I really need DirectX11 for playing games, then I probably need a higher performance card than GT 425M to play the game decently.

ASUS got nicer design on N53 indeed, I like the wedge keyboard style more, and the overall its outside appearance.
Sager also have some pluses too. It's about ~300g lighter and slimmer as well.

N53 (was N63) have been my target since late February's published ASUS March-April World Magazine , but it never comes out till now.

All I want is a reasonably portable laptop with FHD screen and decent-good gaming performance that's good for work and playing, w/o going for bulky gaming class notebook.

Right on. Thanks for the quick reply.

It's funny ... I have the EXACT same headphones as you, too (lol)! We may just have the exact same laptop AND earphones.

At least we know we're men of good taste. :)

I would've chosen N53 with FHD if it really had been released in March-June. Both laptop are the same in my eyes, 300g lighter &slightly more compact design vs good quality laptop speaker is a good trade-off. But now after seeing the reviews of Seagate XT Hybrid HDD, I may not say the same thing...
