You have a Asus Multimedia notebook,if your xmp capable(can set DDR3 timing in the bios)INTEL Extension, not JEDEC Standards, you can run 1866Mhz(933Mhz x 2-(leading and declining electronic signal)-piggy backed- impressed signals on base signals), else 1600Mhz,,also you have look at the "rank" of the Chips R1,R2,,Some or Most Memory Controllers can run R2-Rank chips maximum 1600MHZ,, PC12800 8GB I have not seen any R1's(faster addressed) most I have seen are R2 @ 8GB,,Several R1 @ 4GB, then there is voltage some notebooks specify PC3L-xxxxxx,,L- 1.35V although 1.5V should be okay as well,,just more heat.

As Far as what you have selected either one is fine,, I have PC3L-14900 1866MHZ Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x8GB,,same price as PC3-12800 on amazon,,newegg may still have some, nothing like having overhead to not tax the memory maximum run speed.Mine as others shows running at PC3L-14200.. :)

The farther out in Ranks you go in memory chips the closer you get to what servers use,,slower ram !

As far as Cas I run CAS 9 most are 11,,lower than CAS 9 would be very expensive and probably prototypes available only to the lucky ones-the testers for the Board members of the RAM market,Like any market Supply and Demand has an equilibrium price, then changes in the Supply and or Demand Curves dictate new equilibrium price,,ect, ect ... :)

Since your talking about sodimm-laptop parts--Dr. Barry Lam should be on your mind,,Desktop parts-Dr. Terry Gou(one supplier to Intel of Desktop Mobos).lol Terry and Barry have patents on some of the chips so they are always present in laptops and desktops respectively.. :)

    Cheers
