Hey guys. I have nothing against the Azureus Bittorrent client. Unfortunately, I found out that running Azureus in the background while making using of the graphics card in the G1S causes BSODs with an IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO. The error does not say anything about any system process, file, etc. The BCCode is "a".

I was able to reproduce this error every single time by having Azureus download a torrent and running a game or DXVA enabled video. After about 5 minutes or so, the system would BSOD. I thought this was a problem with my Vista Ultimate x64 install, but I was wrong because I could reproduce this error with pretty much any video driver from laptopvideo2go other than ASUS G1S drivers from the ASUS support site. I was using the latest drivers for my G1S.

It seems that there is a conflict between the TCP/IP stack in Vista x64 and the NVIDIA display drivers when running Azureus. I can run any other torrent client and use my graphics card and the system will not BSOD at all.

So if anyone experiences BSODs, trying switching your torrent client. To those that may say to use the default G1S drivers, those drivers utterly suck. The default drivers do not support 4 GB RAM and disconnecting an external display will cause the drivers from the ASUS support site to crash. This results in nvddlmkm.sys becoming corrupted. A reinstall of the driver will fix this, but disconnecting an external display will again trigger a crash and corruption.

Hope this helps paranoid peeps. :)

By the way, I thought this was a hardware problem and had it diagnosed by ASUS and no hardware problems were found.

Edit: I forgot to say that I am not the only one who has found Azureus to cause BSODs on select systems. A google search for "BCCode a" will point to another user that found Azureus to cause problems. Pretty much, he is the only other person who has reported such a problem. Keep using Azureus if you do not have any problems because it really does offer a lot of customization compared to uTorrent. If you are getting BSODs, try switching bittorrent clients before you start to deep debug.

    Solution?
Use a better client, like uTorrent.

Stupid me forgot to save the crash dump so I could forward it to the Azureus (now Vuze) developers. :(

What started annoying me about Azureus is all the extra stuff they added into the client, like video previews and stuff. It's a lot of junk and it takes forever to load and is distracting. I much preferred the barebones look that it sported a couple years ago. Does utorrent have all that stuff too?

uTorrent is pretty bare. It has a nice interface and has not caused any BSODs. I liked Azureus because it was the same on every platform, but now I don't think I'll go near it ever again.

I guess I am the only faithful Azureus guy around eh? It never did me wrong and it has more options when you really are a power user that tweaks things out and makes use of the plugins.

Sorry folks. I forgot to mention the one other case of Azureus causing BSODs. It may just be that Azureus does not like the certain drivers or combination of drivers.
