This is a general question about LCD screens, but since I own an ASUS W2V, I'm putting on the ASUS forum.

What causes that wavy effect on the LCD screen. I mean it doesn't appear to have waves in it when you look at it from an angle. The screen is not damaged, but what makes it look like that?

See this picture from Geared2Play for good reference.

Are you talking about the reflection?

Reflection? Well sort of. If you look at the screen at an angle you can see waves that sort of look like heat coming coming off fire.

You can see it pretty good in the portion of the attached picture that shows outside with the red car.

You mean the wave like rippling? I believe it's just a coating, and won't be visible when viewing your screen directly.

I'm sure it's not visible when you're using your notebook.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Edit:: I've seen it on my friend's Z63A as well, so I'm pretty sure it's just a glossy screen attribute.

that's how most glossy screens are like.. they have that "ocean" torrent type texture. It was the same on the many Fujitsu's and HP models I foold around with. no worries :)

I'm not thinking it's damaged in any way. It's kind of miraculous to look it. I'm just wondering what causes it?

I had to google that one :p

but the "roughness" of the surface has much to do with the reflective nature
