    Hi

I use Everest Home edition to keep track of the temperature on my G1. The CPU normally runs about 40 degrees and sometime it goes up to the low 50s. The GPU runs at the high 50s with I play games and the high 40s when I dont.

Is there anyway to keep it cooler?

Isn't the high 50s considered good for gaming? I dunno, I'm just asking, because I read that it's not uncommon to hit the 60-70C area.

That's about correct, you can further use underclocking programs to further make it cooler. A cooling fan is another option.

My CPU idles at 50 degrees, and mines a slower Pentium M. Gaming hits a tad over 70 degrees.

i'd say those are pretty darn good temps. i'm using a zalman laptop cooler for my g1 just for the sake of keeping it in prestine conditions too, though have never really got to actually monitor the temps... might do that later tonight :D

A notebook cooling pad, lower the ambient room temperature, ensure enough clearance for exhaust venting, cut a hole in your desk underneath your notebook and run an air conditioner vent in  .

Basically though, it sounds as if your running within normal operating temperatures for a typical high-end notebook. I too have concerns about the summer heat and my V1Jp. I will have an a/c this summer though so I should be OK.

As already mentioned you can reduce temp with a notebook cooler. But honestly, those temps are good! my cpu idles at 50C and when gaming hits 65C. Be worried when its 80+C.

You could also use RMClock to undervolt the cpu to draw less voltage without any decrease in performance.

If those temps are correct, then that's really good. However, Everest (version 2.20.405) doesn't correctly report the CPU temp on my G1, although the GPU and hard drive temps are right. Instead, I use CoreTemp, which gives reading of ~50C idle, ~70C load, which seems to be the norm for the G1.

i have a freind who has a G1 and you can do what he's done. His G1 doesnt go over 44/46 (Speedfan) when he's playing FEAR or raiding when on EverQuest.
He has a laptop cooler and hes taken the back plates off exposing the HD and ram bay. He uses small tab velcro's to put the plates back in place so he doesnt have to fumble with the screws all the time.
Quite a great idea and if i decide to get a laptop cooler ill most likely be doing the same thing.

For my G1 i use the A/C "modded" liquid cooler attached to my desktop.

It just lays under the G1 and keeps it around 50s, 60s is the max under a load, but my 7700 is oc'd. The G1 runs very cool, u shouldnt have any problems.
