Hello, my web camera don't work in Windows 8.1 on X555LN laptop. The camera is installed when I look in device manager like usb webcam but it don't work in any application. I have tried it in Ubuntu and it works I also find out the vendor of camera it is a Realtek. There are all drivers on asus driver cd for windows 8.1 but no driver for camera. I'm searching on web but I can't find any driver for that camera. I will bi very grateful if anybody have a solution for this problem.

Hi, most webcams usually do not need any drivers. They are usb devices (yes, internal cams too), so MS installs the required driver automatically. You can try to open default webcam app in windows 8 (CAMERA) from start menu, then open the charms bar, choose settings, permissions and enable it, if it is disabled.

Hey. I just want to ask you if you can remove the battery of your X555LN and use it while plugged in the outlet.

I agree. The driver is often native to Windows. Look into the webcam app built into Windows 8(.1), and if you still can't get it to work, see whether the driver is installed or not by going into Device Manager (check 'Imaging devices'). If it's there, remove it and reboot, then test again.

The battery is internal in this model.
