Hello guys, first time posting a thread, and I have high hopes for this community!

I own a N82Jv laptop, and I am suffering from some webcam issues lately. When I try to use the WebCam, for say, Skype or even LifeFrame, I notice the "USB device disconnected" notification sound, and then the device (USB 2.0 UVC 2M WebCam) disappears from the list, then reappears after like a second. I've tried updating the driver downloaded from the official website, but when I tried to install the Chicony drivers, it gives me a "USB2.0 UVC VGA/1.3M/2.0M WebCam" error which I have no idea at all what it means. I've also tried letting Windows re-install the drivers automatically, no luck with that either... There is also a BIOS update on their website that is said to have a workaround with the webcam issue (proving that this is not a individual case), I tried that as well, but it was no help what-so-ever.

But a weird thing I've notice is that, when I play Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, if some of you out there are familiar with the game you would know that it utilizes the webcam to take pictures for your profile. Well, the webcam works just fine in game, but with the other programs it just wouldn't comply...

That's it, guys, any help at all would be appreciated, I thank all of you in advance!

I have an NX90JQ, and I am not a computer guy, but I was having problems with Yahoo Messenger saying that there was no webcam connected.

I have ASUS Lifeframe for a webcam. I went into Advanced Settings--Capture Device--Video Device where I selected webcam instead of Virtual camera. Now, the webcam works with YM.

Not sure this will help, but it worked for me.

    Hi,

I have the exact same problem with the built-in USB2.0 HB UVC WebCam of a brand new ASUS Zenbook U500VZ. The USB notification sound indicates that the built-in webcam is removed and a couble of seconds later it re-appears. This can also be observed in the Device Manager - it keeps on disappearing/reappearing. LifeFrame does not even recognize the webcam - I guess because it keeps on disapearing.

The notebook is downgraded from Win8 to Win7 Pro 64 bit (who wants a touch based OS on a PC without a touch screen - well I don't). Anyway has anybody solved a similar problem?

    Best regards

Welcome! Hopefully we meet your expectations! :D

What is the exact error message? Or can you take a screenshot and attach an image here for us to see?

This sounds like faulty driver software. You can try a detect + download/install utility for drivers (there a quite a few out there, but 3D chip and Driver Pack Solution have worked best for me). If the manufacturer's provided driver isn't working, you can also try a Google search for someone else that hosts the file(s) for the webcam driver and software.
